FACT CHECK: Does This Video Show A Recent Discovery Of Human Remains In Mexico?

A post shared on social media purportedly shows a video of a truck full of bodies recently found in Mexico.

Mexican Drug cartels have publicly threatened multiple artists, including regional singer Natanael Cano, CBS News reported. Mexican law enforcement has offered protection to Cano after threats circulated on social media appeared to stem from the “Chapitos” cartel.

A post shared on X, formerly known as Twitter, purports a truck was found in Mexico that contained several bodies. The video shows two men approaching the truck, as someone can be heard crying.

The caption reads, “Semi truck filled with dead children’s bodies and body parts stuffed into trash bags was found in Mexico. The woman who found them was found cut up in pieces & stuffed in a suitcase. Where did these children come from? Who did this? Where is the MSM?”

The claim is inaccurate. There is no credible news report that suggests that this video was taken recently. Euronews posted the video in 2018. The video reports that officials did not have space to store the bodies.

“Mexico horrified after trucks full of bodies found. Sanctions are raining down after the discovery of refrigerated trucks containing the remains of hundreds of people. The prosecutor’s office and the morgue in the state of Jalisco have blamed the lack of space to store the bodies,” Courrier International reported.
