FACT CHECK: Has Elon Musk Launched A Public Campaign To Terminate ‘The View?’

A post shared on Facebook claims Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) lead and Tesla CEO Elon Musk has purportedly launched a public campaign to terminate “The View.”

An advanced search of Musk’s verified X account @elonmusk does not generate any reference to the claim, and there is no other evidence supporting the claim.

Fact Check:

Whoopi Goldberg expressed fears that President Donald Trump would deport her during a recent episode of “The View,” according to Newsweek. Goldberg said, “any of us could find ourselves being deported” while discussing Trump’s deportations of Tren de Aragua members, the outlet reported.

The Facebook post claims Musk has purportedly launched a public campaign to terminate “The View.”

“‘BREAKING: Elon Musk Takes a Bold Stand: He Launches a Public Campaign to Terminate ‘The View,’ Seeking Support to End the Controversial Show Permanently,’” the post reads. An article linked to a comment shared via the same post repeats the claim.

According to the article, Musk purportedly referred to the show as “divisive” and a “platform for ideological echo chambers.” Musk also purportedly suggested “creating a new platform to promote balanced discourse, aiming to foster civilized debate,” the article claims.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact conducted an advanced search of Musk’s verified X account @elonmusk and did not find any reference to the claim. Likewise, the claim does not appear on the website for “The View” or its verified social media accounts. Joy Behar and Goldberg, two of the daytime talk show’s hosts, also have not publicly commented on the claim.
