FACT CHECK: Has The US Bar Association Suspended Jack Smith’s Law License?

An image shared on Facebook claims the U.S. Bar Association has purportedly suspended former Special Counsel Jack Smith’s law license.

Verdict: False

The claim is false and originally stems from a March 4 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page.

Fact Check:

Attorney General Pam Bondi said “everything is on the table” in regard to an investigation of Smith and his team at the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), according to USA Today. Bondi made the remark during a recent appearance on Fox News with host Sean Hannity, the outlet reported.

The Facebook image claims the U.S. Bar Association has purportedly suspended Smith’s law license.

“The US Bar Association has Suspended Jack Smith’s License Pending an Investigation into Alleged Corruption and Fraud,” text superimposed on the image reads. “‘He ran roughshod over the Constitution for three years,’” a second set of text follows.

The claim is false and originally stems from a March 4 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page. The Facebook page describes itself as “the flagship of the ALLOD network of trollery and propaganda for cash” before reiterating that “nothing on this page is real.” The original post has received 1,000 likes as of writing.

Likewise, a keyword search for the U.S. Bar Association does not return any results. A search for the American Bar Association (ABA) does, however, and the claim is neither referenced on the ABA’s website nor its associated social media accounts. A search of the New York State Unified Court System’s website shows Smith’s law license is currently registered with his next registration set for June 2025. In addition, President Donald Trump does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim via his personal or government X accounts, his TRUTH Social account, or his verified social media accounts. Check Your Fact also found no credible news reports to support the claim.
