An image shared on Facebook claims President Donald Trump has purportedly ordered the Keystone Pipeline System to “transport only American oil.”
Verdict: False
The claim is false and originally stems from a March 16 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page.
Fact Check:
Trump is set to sign an executive order that will close the Department of Education, according to NBC News. The executive order will “return education authority to the States,” the outlet reported.
The Facebook post claims Trump has purportedly ordered the Keystone Pipeline System to “transport only American oil.”
“Trump has ordered the Keystone to transport ONLY American Oil,” text superimposed on what appears to be an image of the pipeline reads. “‘Canada has used our land for free for far too long,’” a second set of text follows.
The claim is false and originally stems from a March 16 post shared by “America’s Last Line of Defense,” which is a satirical Facebook page. The Facebook page describes itself as “a subsidiary of the America’s Last Line of Defense network of trollery and propaganda for cash” before reiterating that “nothing on this page is real.”
Likewise, Trump does not appear to have referenced the claim on his personal or government X accounts, his TRUTH Social account, or his verified social media accounts. The claim is not generated via searches of the White House’s website or verified X account @WhiteHouse, either. (RELATED: Did Trump Replace A Portrait Of Abe Lincoln With A Jewish Leader?)
In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. Actually, the opposite is true. On March 19, Lead Stories debunked the claim, tracing its origin to the same satirical Facebook page. According to the outlet, the Facebook post uses the phrase “the Keystone” in reference to the claim, which does not distinguish between the Keystone Pipeline System and the Keystone XL project, a “proposed 1,200-mile addition” that was revoked under President Joe Biden in 2021.
