A post shared on X claims Minnesota Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar was voted off the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

🚨BREAKING: #Ilhan Omar has been removed from the House #Foreign AffairsCommittee.

Remove her from #Congress next! 👏👏

Rep. #MarjorieTaylorGreene had a few choice words for Ilhan. Safe to say, she is not a fan of Rep. Omar. #houseofreps #capitolhill#houseofrepresentatives… pic.twitter.com/oWA099cv94

Verdict: Misleading

Omar was removed from the committee in 2023. This news is not recent.

Fact Check:

Social media users are claiming that Omar was removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee recently. One user wrote, “BREAKING: #Ilhan Omar has been removed from the House #Foreign AffairsCommittee. Remove her from #Congress next! 👏👏 Rep. #MarjorieTaylorGreene had a few choice words for Ilhan. Safe to say, she is not a fan of Rep. Omar.”

This claim is misleading. This is not a recent development, as Omar was removed from the House Foreign Affairs Committee in February 2023 along a party-line vote, according to NPR. She was removed due to controversial remarks she had made years before. (RELATED: No, Pete Hegseth Didn’t Say It Would Take Seven Years To Build The Ships To Confront Russia)

Omar currently serves on the House Budget Committee and the House Education and Workforce Committee, according to her congressional website. She is the Vice-Ranking Member on the House Budget Committee.
