FACT CHECK: Instagram Image Does Not Show Authentic Headline About RFK Jr.

An image shared on Instagram purports to show a headline from KGM8 about Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr.

Verdict: False

The outlet KGM8 does not exist. An outlet called KGW8 is based in Portland, Oregon, but there is no evidence suggesting KGW8 published the purported headline.

Fact Check:

Washington, D.C.-area Democrats, including Maryland Rep. Jamie Raskin are urging Kennedy Jr. to reinstate federal employees fired from HHS and the National Institutes of Health (NIH), according to The Hill. Raskin referred to recent cuts made by the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) as an “illegal mass firing,” the outlet reported.

The Instagram image, which has received over 6,000 likes as of writing, purports to show a headline from KGM8 about Kennedy, Jr. “RFK jr. [sic] says every senator who voted no, must take all 72 vaccine doses in the CDC schedule,” the purported headline reads.

According to the same image, the purported headline appears to have been published on Feb. 13. Besides Instagram, the claim also circulated on Facebook.

The claim is false. Check Your Fact reviewed the image and immediately noticed the “M” in KGM8 looks more like an upside-down “W” than an “M.” A keyword search for “KGM8” does not return any results, but a search for “KGW8” reveals that an outlet called KGW8 exists and is based in Portland, Oregon.

Likewise, a search of KGW8’s website and its associated X account, @KGWNews, also does not return any results for the purported headline. In addition, Kennedy Jr. does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim. He did not make the purported remark during his Senate Confirmation Hearing or his swearing-in ceremony, either. Furthermore, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. In fact, the opposite is true. On Feb. 27, Reuters debunked the claim, indicating the outlet KGM8 does not exist.
