FACT CHECK: Is The US Marine Corps Investigating Susan Crawford For Election Fraud?

An image of a headline shared on Facebook claims the U.S. Marine Corps (USMC) is purportedly investigating Judge Susan Crawford for election fraud.

The claim is false and originally stems from an April 2 article published on the satire site “Real Raw News.”

Fact Check:

Crawford recently defeated her Republican challenger Brad Schimel to win a 10-year seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, according to NBC News. Crawford is a circuit judge from Wisconsin’s Dane County, the outlet reported.

The image of the headline shared via the Facebook post claims the USMC is purportedly investigating Crawford for election fraud. The same post claims the USMC Forces Cyberspace Command had purportedly intercepted a call between Crawford and Democratic Wisconsin Gov. Tony Evers in which Crawford claimed she’d won the state’s Supreme Court election at 7:15 p.m., or 45 minutes before the polls closed.

The claim is false and originally stems from an April 2 article published on the satire site “Real Raw News.” A “Disclaimer” included on the site’s “About Us” page indicates its content is not meant to be taken literally. “Information on this website is for informational and educational and entertainment purposes. This website contains humor, parody, and satire. We have included this disclaimer for our protection, on the advice [of] legal counsel,” the disclaimer reads.

Likewise, the claim is neither referenced on the USMC’s website nor its verified social media accounts. Crawford has not mentioned the claim on her personal social media accounts. Evers does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim, either.

In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. If the USMC was truly investigating Crawford for election fraud, multiple media outlets would’ve covered it, yet none have.
