Verdict: False

Fact Check:

Influencer Andrew Tate has announced he will run for prime minister of the UK, according to Hindustan Times. He is doing so under a new political party called Britain Restoring Underlying Values (BRUV), promising to be accountable to the people of Britain, the outlet reported.

An X image allegedly shows a CNN article reporting that Tate has become a betting favorite for the position of the United Kingdom’s prime minister. The purported article reads, “Andrew Tate is now the betting favorite on Kalshi to become the next UK Prime Minister.” Kalshi is a betting platform that allows users to place bets on future events such as election results and presidential actions, according to Forbes.

This is not a genuine article, however. It does not appear through a search of the CNN website, nor can it be found on the outlet’s social media accounts. (RELATED: Were All Charges Dismissed Against Andrew and Tristan Tate in November?)

The article appears to have been edited from a legitimate CNN article titled “Andrew Tate put under house arrest in Romania over new allegations.” It shows the same authors, publication date and featured image.

Check Your Fact reached out to a CNN spokesperson for comment.
