FACT CHECK: No, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Did Not Threaten To Punch Elon Musk If He ‘Doesn’t Leave America Alone’

A post shared on Facebook claims actor Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson purportedly threatened to punch Tesla CEO and Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) lead Elon Musk if he “doesn’t leave America alone.”

The claim originally stems from a March 7 article published by sports.amazingtoday.net. Content detection scans using GPTZero and QuillBot indicate the article text has been generated using artificial intelligence (AI).

Fact Check:

President Donald Trump recently told reporters that “at some point” Musk will leave the White and House to go back to running Tesla and SpaceX, according to USA Today. Trump also said Musk has been “amazing” at leading DOGE, the outlet reported.

The Facebook post claims Johnson purportedly threatened to punch Musk if he “doesn’t leave America alone.” A March 7 article linked to the Facebook post claims Johnson purportedly made the statement on social media, prompting Musk to respond with a thinking face emoji. The post also claims that neither Johnson nor Musk “has made any further statements to clarify the situation.”

The claim is false. Check Your Fact conducted a content detection scan using GPTZero and the results indicate the article text is 100% AI-generated. A second scan using QuillBot produces a slightly lower rating, suggesting only 40% of the article text is likely to be AI-generated.

Likewise, the claim does not appear to be referenced on Musk’s verified X account @elonmusk. Johnson does not appear to have publicly commented on the claim via his verified social media accounts, either.

In addition, Check Your Fact found no credible news reports to support the claim. If Johnson, a public figure, had truly threatened Musk, another public figure, then multiple media outlets would’ve covered it, yet none have. Actually, the opposite is true.
