FACT CHECK: No, Trump Didn’t Threaten To Deport All Ghanaians

A post shared on Facebook claims President Donald Trump threatened to deport all Ghanaians.

Verdict: False

There is no evidence that Trump said he would deport all Ghanaians. The video has been doctored.

Fact Check:

Social media users are sharing a video of Trump, claiming he said he would deport all Ghanaians. One user wrote, “President Trump to deport all Ghanaians, what is happening?”

The video, though, has been doctored. Through a reverse image search, Check Your Fact found that the video is from March 12, 2020 and shows a Trump speech on the COVID-19 pandemic.

“President Donald Trump on Wednesday is expected to address the nation from the oval office on the U.S. response to the deadly coronavirus outbreak, hours after the World Health Organization declared it a pandemic,” reads the video description.

Furthermore, there is no evidence that Trump said he would deport all Ghanaians. No media outlets have covered it, and a search of the White House website did not yield any results for this claim.  (RELATED: Did Trump Sign An Executive Order Stopping All New Funds To The UNRWA?)

AFP Fact Check also debunked the claim. The outlet reported that 3,228 Ghanaian “illegal immigrants” are “earmarked for deportation.”
