FACT CHECK: No, Zelenskyy Didn’t Buy Hitler’s Eagle’s Nest Home

A post shared on Facebook claims Ukrainian President Volodomyr Zelenskyy bought deceased genocidal Nazi dictator Adolf Hitler’s home, the Eagle’s Nest.

Verdict: False

There is no evidence for this claim.

Fact Check:

Social media users are claiming Zelenskyy bought Hitler’s residence, known as the Eagle’s Nest. One user wrote that it was acquired by a company owned by Zelenskyy.

“According to German media, Kelsteinhaus, also known as the Eagle’s Nest, was acquired by the offshore company San Tommaso, owned by the President of Ukraine. The deal was completed at the end of December, and the building was purchased for €14.2 million euros. The Kelsteinhaus, located in the mountains of Bavaria, was a gift to Adolf Hitler on his 50th birthday. The building was hardly damaged during the Second World War and was later converted into a museum and a restaurant. It remains unknown how Zelensky is going to use Hitler’s former dacha,” reads part of the post.

There is no evidence for this claim. If Zelenskyy had bought the Eagle’s Nest, media outlets would have covered it, yet none have. A wider internet search did not yield any results for this claim. (RELATED: No, Trump Didn’t Threaten To Deport All Ghanaians)

The Free State of Bavaria released a statement saying that the claim of an “alleged sale” of the Eagle’s Nest is “deliberate misinformation.”

“The Kehlsteinhaus is still owned by the Free State of Bavaria. A sale has not taken place and is not planned. The alleged purchase contract shown in the video is a fake, as is the alleged quote from the IMBY management. The Kehlsteinhaus will resume its regular seasonal operations in May 2025. IMBY will take legal action against the authors of this misinformation,” reads the statement.
