A viral image shared on X purports to authentically show South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace with exaggerated facial features.

Verdict: False
The claim is false as the image is digitally edited. In the original image, which serves as Mace’s official portrait on her Congressional profile, she can be seen with non-exaggerated facial features. Additionally, a spokesperson for Mace denied the image’s authenticity in an email to Check Your Fact.
Fact Check:
Brian Musgrave, a man who Mace accused of being a “predator” during a February speech on the House floor, has labeled the allegations as “untrue,” according to the Daily Beast. Musgrave is one of three men Mace has claimed recorded sex acts with consent, the outlet reported.
The X image, which has been viewed over nine million times as of writing, purports to authentically show Mace with exaggerated facial features, including her eyes. “All over the world, extremely hot girls,” the image’s caption reads.
The claim is false as the image is digitally edited. In the original image, which serves as Mace’s official portrait on her Congressional profile, she can be seen with non-exaggerated facial features. Likewise, the unedited image appears on the “About” page of Mace’s website and is set as her profile photo for her government Facebook, X, and Instagram accounts. Mace does not appear to have issued a statement responding to the digitally edited image.
In addition, Check Your Fact did not find the viral X image featured in any recent credible news reports about Mace. Actually, the opposite is true. On March 7, Lead Stories debunked the claim, indicating it had been edited. According to the outlet, Mace’s eyes, mouth, chin, and other facial features were exaggerated in the digitally edited image. Furthermore, a spokesperson for Mace denied the image’s authenticity in an email to Check Your Fact.
“This image is obviously not real,” the spokesperson said.
This is not the first time a fake image has circulated online. Check Your Fact previously debunked an image shared on Instagram claiming to show Maine Democratic Gov. Janet Mills allegedly being arrested.
