FBI Deputy Director Dan Bongino confirmed this week that the agency’s files show Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide, countering years of public speculation and conspiracy theories, as reported by The New York Post.

The confirmation came during an interview Wednesday on Fox News with host Sean Hannity, where Bongino addressed multiple high-profile investigations, including the classified documents case involving President Donald Trump, the origins of COVID-19, and the discovery of cocaine in the Biden White House.

“The evidence we have in our files clearly indicates that it was, in fact, a suicide,” Bongino said, referencing Epstein’s 2019 death inside a Manhattan federal jail while awaiting trial on sex-trafficking charges.

“We do have video. It’s not the greatest video in the world. However, the video does show in that specific block that he goes in, made a phone call… You’ll see nobody really comes out of that bay in that area than him.”

Bongino added:

“There’s nothing there in the file at all that indicates anything other than, in fact, a suicide.”

The deputy director also commented on the current direction of the FBI, saying the agency is shifting focus to address real threats. “We’re not the Federal Bureau of freakin’ word games anymore, okay? It’s the Federal Bureau of Investigation,” he said.

Regarding the origins of COVID-19, Bongino said the case had been reopened. “Damn right you are,” he said, when asked if the American people would find out the truth. “We have a great investigator on it.”

The discussion also turned to the 2022 FBI raid on President Trump’s Mar-a-Lago estate. Bongino acknowledged that federal agents recovered 33 boxes, triggering a legal battle that ultimately led to 40 felony charges against President Trump.

“We found some troubling, really troubling items in there that we actioned immediately,” he said.

Bongino was asked whether there is a double standard in how the Justice Department handled classified document investigations involving Trump versus Hillary Clinton and former President Joe Biden.

“I think that’s fairly clear when you look at how the two cases were handled,” he replied.

He also confirmed several ongoing investigations, including the leak of the Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision in 2022, retaliation against pro-life advocates, and the targeting of parents at school board meetings.

When asked about the unresolved 2023 incident involving cocaine found in the White House, Bongino emphasized the seriousness of the case.

“This is an enormous case. Cocaine in the White House?” he said. “We didn’t know what it was. And we don’t seem to have answers as to what it was. Well, we’re going to get them.”
