A federal judge has ruled that President Donald Trump may proceed with terminating Dr. Terry Adirim, the CIA’s top medical official overseeing the agency’s global health operations.
The decision comes amid a broader reassessment of personnel who played a key role in enforcing federal COVID-19 vaccine mandates.
U.S. District Judge Michael Nachmanoff denied a request from Adirim on Friday to block her removal as Director of the CIA’s Centers for Global Health Services.

Adirim, who previously oversaw vaccine policy enforcement at the Department of Defense, alleged that her dismissal was politically motivated and the result of outside pressure.

Her claims were rooted in the timeline of her firing, which came days after conservative activist Laura Loomer visited President Trump at the White House.
Adirim alleged in court filings that Loomer had influenced the president’s decision, referencing Loomer’s past efforts to call out figures in the administration she deemed disloyal.
“There is no reason other than the close timing of Ms. Loomer’s White House visit and the CIA’s communication of its termination decision to Plaintiff to suggest the two are linked,” the Department of Justice stated in its response.
The DOJ argued that Adirim’s claims were speculative and lacked substantive evidence.

The CIA maintained that its decision to terminate Adirim was based on internal complaints raised by agency personnel, rather than outside political influence.
According to court records, multiple CIA officers filed complaints regarding Adirim’s conduct, prompting leadership within the agency to evaluate her continued role.
The details of those complaints were not made public, though the agency cited “concern among CIA leadership” as part of its rationale.
Adirim’s name appeared on a list circulated by former Green Beret and right-leaning commentator Ivan Raiklin, referred to in court documents as the “Deep State Target List.”

The list includes government officials whom Raiklin and other activists claim have acted against the interests of the Trump administration.
In her lawsuit, Adirim argued that her public service was being weaponized against her and that her family had faced threats as a result of the political targeting.
“Plaintiff and her family suffered terrible injustice only because her good service to our country made her a target for a political extremist who defamed her and called for the termination of her employment and even her death,” her attorney wrote in the filing.
Judge Nachmanoff ultimately ruled in favor of the CIA and Department of Justice, stating that Adirim had not provided sufficient grounds to block her termination.
The judge determined that the evidence offered was circumstantial and did not establish a direct link between Loomer’s White House visit and Adirim’s dismissal.
Dr. Adirim previously served in multiple federal health roles, including Acting Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs during the Biden administration, where she helped oversee the military’s COVID-19 vaccination efforts.
The case underscores the Trump administration’s ongoing efforts to remove federal personnel associated with pandemic-era mandates and policies deemed contrary to its agenda.
Neither the CIA nor the White House provided additional comments following the judge’s ruling.
