Rick Evanchec, the FBI’s Agent in Charge in Minneapolis, announced the dismantling of a long-running criminal network operating in the metropolitan area since the 1990s, following coordinated law enforcement operations that led to multiple arrests and significant seizures of drugs, firearms, vehicles, and cash.
Speaking on behalf of a joint law enforcement effort, Evanchec detailed the scope of the investigation and enforcement action targeting what authorities identified as the “Family Mob” gang and criminal enterprise.
“We are very pleased today as a collective law enforcement community, to announce and report the dismantlement and disruption of the Family Mob gang and criminal enterprise network operating throughout the metropolitan area here in Minneapolis since the 1990s this gang has conspired to deliver deadly narcotics to our neighborhoods and ushered in violence to aid in their efforts to claim control over their so called territory,” Evanchec said.

According to Evanchec, the operation unfolded early in the morning with multiple tactical teams deployed across the region.
“This morning, prior to dawn, eight SWAT teams dispersed across this region,” he said. “We ultimately executed 14 search warrants aimed to seize narcotics, guns and other evidence of their criminal conduct.”
By the end of the day, law enforcement expected multiple suspects to be in custody.
“At the close of business today, we expect that 12 defendants, most with violent criminal histories, will have been taken into custody since last year, including the efforts this morning,” Evanchec said.

Authorities reported seizing a substantial amount of illegal narcotics and other evidence during the operation.
“So far, our collective effort has seized 14 firearms, 6.5 kilograms of fentanyl, two kilograms of cocaine, nearly 800 grams of methamphetamine, nearly 200 grams of crack, five vehicles and nearly $100,000 in cash,” Evanchec said.
The FBI described the operation as part of a broader commitment to addressing violent crime and narcotics distribution in Minneapolis. Evanchec emphasized that the distribution of illegal drugs and related violence would not be tolerated.
“The distribution of illegal narcotics and the spread of violence in our communities will not be tolerated,” he said.
Evanchec also stressed the importance of interagency cooperation in dismantling organized criminal enterprises and preventing similar groups from emerging in the future.
“Our communities should know that the FBI will continue to partner with exceptional agencies,” Evanchec said.
“Those partnerships will stand to send a very clear message to those who seek to fill the void created by the dismantlement of the Family Mob network.”
He concluded by outlining the FBI’s ongoing strategy to combat organized crime in the region.
“That message is this, the FBI will build bridges, foster partnerships, expend the talents of our workforce and expend all resources at our disposal to deliver the same fate of those networks as the one met by Family Mob,” Evanchec said.
