The incident occurred around 3:50 p.m. inside the Costco located on Third Avenue near 37th Street in Sunset Park, according to the New York City Police Department.
Authorities said the confrontation began as a verbal dispute over a shopping cart before turning physical in the middle of a crowded aisle.

Emergency medical responders transported the injured man to NYU Langone Hospital–Brooklyn, where he was treated for head injuries, police said. His condition was not immediately released.
Authorities said the suspect fled the store before officers arrived. The NYPD described the suspect as a man wearing a white T-shirt and black pants and said he was last seen leaving the Costco on foot.
The investigation is ongoing, and detectives are reviewing security camera footage from the store as part of the effort to locate the suspect.
Police urged anyone with information about the incident or the suspect’s whereabouts to contact the NYPD Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or, for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). No arrests have been made as of Wednesday, and police said the suspect could face assault charges once taken into custody.
Shoppers at the Sunset Park Costco told local outlets the altercation caused panic inside the store, as several customers tried to move their carts away from the fight while others filmed the confrontation. The video shows at least a dozen bystanders looking on as the situation unfolded.
Police said they are continuing to interview witnesses and store employees to determine the sequence of events leading up to the assault.
The NYPD emphasized that any act of violence inside a public business will be treated seriously, and investigators are seeking to identify both couples involved in the dispute.
The viral video remains under review by authorities as part of the investigation into the Brooklyn Costco incident.
