Four Daytona Beach teenagers were arrested on Feb. 14 following an armed carjacking that led to a multi-agency pursuit and ended when the stolen vehicle crashed into a road sign.

According to law enforcement, the incident began after the Daytona Beach Police Department issued an alert about a vehicle that had been carjacked at gunpoint. Officers later located the vehicle on Clyde Morris Boulevard and attempted to conduct a traffic stop at a nearby gas station.

Police said the driver initially complied and stopped the vehicle. However, the situation quickly escalated when the driver fled the scene, prompting officers to initiate a pursuit.

The chase continued through Daytona Beach with assistance from both the Daytona Beach Police Department and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said the pursuit came to an end when the stolen vehicle struck a road sign and became disabled, forcing it to stop.

After the crash, four individuals were inside the vehicle. Police reported that two of them ran from the scene on foot while the other two remained inside or near the disabled vehicle.

The driver was identified as Terrez Thomas, 18, of Daytona Beach. A passenger, Ter’zarius Thomas, 16, also of Daytona Beach, was in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Authorities said both Terrez Thomas and Ter’zarius Thomas fled from the disabled vehicle following the collision.

Two other passengers, Javari Ford, 16, and Cherod Butler, 15, also residents of Daytona Beach, stayed with the vehicle and were immediately taken into custody at the scene.

Law enforcement officers were able to apprehend the two individuals who fled on foot.

All four teenagers were ultimately taken into custody.

Following the arrests, investigators conducted a search of the vehicle. During that search, officers recovered a Canik 9mm handgun. They also found ski masks and gloves inside the vehicle. The items were seized as part of the investigation.

Authorities confirmed that all four individuals were arrested on charges related to armed carjacking. In addition to the armed carjacking charge, Terrez Thomas faces an additional charge of fleeing and eluding law enforcement, as he was identified as the driver who led officers on the pursuit.

No information was released indicating injuries to officers or bystanders during the incident. The crash that ended the pursuit involved the stolen vehicle striking a road sign, which disabled the car and brought the chase to a halt.

The case involved coordination between multiple law enforcement agencies, including the Daytona Beach Police Department and the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.

Officers responded after receiving the initial alert regarding the armed carjacking and worked together to track and stop the vehicle once it was located.

The arrests concluded the Feb. 14 incident that began with a reported carjacking at gunpoint and ended with four teenagers in custody following a crash and foot pursuit in Daytona Beach.

All four suspects are facing charges connected to the armed carjacking, and the driver faces an additional charge related to fleeing from law enforcement.
