Former DOGE employee Edward Coristine, also known by the nickname “Big Balls,” spoke publicly for the first time since he was brutally beaten during an attempted carjacking in Washington, D.C.

Coristine appeared Monday evening on Fox News’ Jesse Watters Primetime to describe the attack and his recovery, as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

The incident took place last month when Coristine, 19, intervened to protect his female friend during a confrontation with a group of 10 teenagers. According to a police report, the group attempted to carjack Coristine’s friend, and he was severely beaten while trying to defend her.

President Donald Trump shared a photo of Coristine following the assault, which showed him bloodied after the encounter. The President has since moved to federalize Washington, D.C., in response to rising violent crime.

Authorities charged two 15-year-old suspects in connection with the attack.

During his interview with Watters, Coristine recalled the sequence of events.

“Yeah, I was just hanging out with a group of my friends late at night and at about 3 a.m. we were wrapping up, and I was walking one of my friends back to her car and as we’re walking to the car there’s a group of 10 guys right across the street. And as we get to the car and she begins to fumble for the keys, they start shouting at us, and really quickly I knew something was really off about the situation,” he said.

Coristine explained how he acted quickly to protect his friend.

“So she unlocks the car, I rush her into the driver’s seat, she’s able to close the door behind her and lock the doors and right as I turn around, they run up on me. They’re just a few feet away. And they slam me against the car. They start throwing a bunch of punches. I keep my hands up. just like, alright, I’m getting a lot of punches here,” he continued.

He described trying to shield himself from the assault. “I’m just trying to protect my head the best way that I can. And luckily, the whole thing didn’t last too long. The police showed up pretty quickly,” Coristine told Watters.

Despite the severity of the attack, Coristine said he was fortunate that his injuries were not worse. “So I was very fortunate. I only came out with a broken nose and a concussion. It could have been a lot worse,” he added.
