Federal authorities have arrested a former member of the Michigan Army National Guard who is accused of planning a mass shooting at a U.S. military facility in support of the Islamic State (ISIS), as reported by The Gateway Pundit.

Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed Said, 19, was taken into custody on Tuesday, May 13, near the Detroit Arsenal in Warren, Michigan, where he allegedly intended to carry out an attack on the U.S. Army’s Tank-Automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) base.

Said faces charges of attempting to provide material support to a foreign terrorist organization and distributing information related to a destructive device, according to the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The DOJ stated that Said had been in contact with two undercover law enforcement officers, believing them to be operatives aligned with ISIS.

Court documents allege that he provided the officers with armor-piercing ammunition and magazines, conducted drone reconnaissance over TACOM, and trained them on the use of firearms and Molotov cocktails.

Said also helped plan logistical aspects of the attack, including details on how to enter the facility and which buildings to target.

According to the complaint, Said expressed his desire to support ISIS by executing a domestic terror attack. The undercover officers, posing as ISIS affiliates, told Said in April 2025 that they intended to follow through with his attack plan.

In response, Said offered continued assistance and guidance.

On the day of the scheduled attack, Said allegedly traveled to an area near TACOM and launched a drone in furtherance of the operation.

He was arrested at the scene by federal agents. The DOJ has requested that Said be held in pretrial detention, citing the potential danger to the public and flight risk.

TACOM, located in the Detroit suburb of Warren, oversees the Army’s logistics and supply chain operations for military vehicles, including tanks and other armored equipment.

Said, a U.S. citizen and former service member, is expected to appear in federal court in the Eastern District of Michigan. No defense attorney was listed in court filings at the time of the announcement.
