Four adults were found shot to death early Friday morning inside a home in Lawrenceville, Georgia, where police also discovered three young children hiding in a closet after gunfire erupted, authorities said, as reported by The New York Post.

The shooting occurred around 2:30 a.m. at a residence on Brook Ivy Court in Lawrenceville, a city approximately 30 miles northeast of Atlanta, according to Fox 5 Atlanta.

Investigators said the children were inside the home when shots were fired and took cover in a closet to protect themselves. One of the children was able to call 911 to report the violence.

Gwinnett County Police officers responded to the call within minutes and entered the home, where they found four adults suffering from gunshot wounds. All four victims were pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

The three children were located unharmed inside the closet. Authorities said the children were later picked up by a family member.

Police have not released information about the children’s relationship to the victims, and their identities have not been disclosed.

Following the discovery, officers launched a search for the suspected gunman. Police said the suspect’s vehicle was still parked in the driveway of the home, leading investigators to believe the individual had fled on foot.

K9 units were deployed, and officers tracked the suspect to a wooded area a short distance from the residence.

The suspect was taken into custody without incident, according to police. Authorities have not yet released the names of the suspect or the victims, citing the ongoing investigation and pending notifications.

Police said the motive for the shooting remains under investigation but described the incident as appearing to be “domestic-related.”

Investigators also confirmed there had been prior calls for service to the residence, according to Fox 5 Atlanta, though details of those calls were not immediately released.

“There are no outstanding suspects,” police said, emphasizing that the situation is contained and there is no ongoing threat to the surrounding community.

Law enforcement officials continue to process the crime scene and interview witnesses as they work to piece together what led to the deadly shooting.

Additional charges against the suspect are expected as the investigation moves forward.

The case adds to growing concerns over violent domestic incidents, particularly those involving children who are present during acts of extreme violence.

Authorities said they are coordinating with child services to ensure the children receive appropriate care and support following the incident.

Gwinnett County Police said more information will be released as it becomes available and as the investigation progresses.
