Fox News host Harris Faulkner is raising new questions about who was effectively in charge of the executive branch during Joe Biden’s term in office, following mounting reports about his physical and mental deterioration.
In an interview with the Daily Caller News Foundation, Faulkner pointed to signs of decline that went unchallenged by much of the White House press corps and called for more accountability.
“I think the story’s not over yet,” Faulkner said.
“But find Alex Thompson from Axios. Go find out who was running the country. Go find out who was complicit in those moments, like, that’s what I want to know now.”

Faulkner referenced a number of incidents that occurred during Biden’s presidency—many widely circulated on video—including Biden struggling with stairs, wandering during international summits, and falling at public events.

She also noted reports of Biden using an autopen, a mechanical device used to replicate a stored signature, raising questions about whether he was directly involved in executive decision-making.

“You think there’s that many stupid people in the [White House] press corps? I don’t believe them,” Faulkner said.
“They knew. They saw it. They saw the same thing we saw, they saw it in real time, contemporaneously with the falling and the bumbling and the calling people things that he said he didn’t mean, and then probably might not have even remembered saying, I don’t know, but what I do know is there was no accountability for the times in which he totally looked deficient.”
Faulkner expressed concern about days when Biden was visibly impaired while also representing the U.S. on the world stage.
“Where is the accountability on those days when he’s not having a great one, you know?” she asked.
“And look, anybody can fall, I get that. But this was on a rather staccato roll. This was getting worse.”
The Wall Street Journal reported in December 2024 that White House aides had been actively insulating Biden from his own Cabinet amid growing concerns over his capacity to govern.

That report followed multiple other accounts, including from the book Original Sin by CNN’s Jake Tapper and Axios reporter Alex Thompson, which detailed Biden’s memory issues—such as reportedly failing to recognize longtime supporter George Clooney at a 2024 fundraiser.
Faulkner questioned why the press failed to confront the administration on incidents that were clearly visible to the public.
“Why didn’t they press the White House on it? Why didn’t they press the administration agencies who were with him on a [G7] summit?” she said.
“He couldn’t stand still long enough to take a group photo with other world leaders, where he didn’t stand still. He was standing in the wrong place.”
In February 2024, Biden said he had spoken to former foreign leaders who were no longer alive, including German Chancellor Helmut Kohl, who died in 2017, and French President Francois Mitterrand, who died in 1996.
Faulkner acknowledged Tapper and Thompson’s efforts to raise these issues in their reporting.
“When he said, you know, that they had missed it or they should have done a better job, what I was thinking is, well, at least he was trying because he was writing about some of it,” she said.
“Even when other journalists were flagging, they didn’t want to pay attention to that, so they were complicit in a cover-up.”
Since the interview was conducted, Biden has revealed he was diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer that has metastasized to the bone.
According to Mayo Clinic data, this condition is classified as Stage 4B and has a five-year survival rate of approximately 37%.
Faulkner described her own awareness of Biden’s decline as something that developed gradually over time.
“I covered him every day… we would tape his speeches, and I would say during the primary season, he would just get a little lost in his comments. It really was a drumbeat for me.”
She referenced Biden’s fall at the U.S. Air Force Academy in June 2023, a bicycle accident in 2022, and his later use of the lower stairs on Air Force One as signs of physical struggle.
She also mentioned one specific moment where Biden needed help from Jill Biden after struggling to put on his jacket following a Marine One flight.
“He was like, flailing in the wind,” Faulkner recalled.
“His sunglasses fall down. He’s trying to pick up his glasses. He can’t quite… and you’re thinking, the Secret Service is seeing this. Everybody’s seeing this.”
“Everybody must have known something wasn’t right,” Faulkner added.
“That stands out in my mind as just one example of things that I was noticing where he needs help. He just needs a little help. So who’s doing the job when he’s not able to do it?”
