Since securing both the Electoral College and the popular vote, Trump has been steadily revealing his cabinet picks, showcasing his focus on national security and pro-military leadership.

He shared his decision to nominate Hegseth in a post on Truth Social on Tuesday evening.

“Pete has spent his entire life as a Warrior for the Troops, and for the Country. Pete is tough, smart and a true believer in America First. With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice – Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down,” Trump wrote in his statement.

The statement also highlighted Hegseth’s advocacy for veterans, emphasizing his longstanding dedication to military personnel and his alignment with Trump’s “America First” agenda.

“Pete has led two Veterans Advocacy organizations, leading the fight for our Warriors, and our great Veterans,” Trump said. “Nobody fights harder for the Troops, and Pete will be a courageous and patriotic champion of our ‘Peace through Strength’ policy.”

Hegseth, well-known for his role as a host on “Fox & Friends” and for his appearances on Fox Nation, is no stranger to military service.

He served tours in Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, and Afghanistan and received recognition for his service, earning two Bronze Stars and a Combat Infantryman’s Badge.

His experiences in the military and on the battlefield have shaped his public persona and often influence his viewpoints on Fox News.

Following Trump’s announcement, Fox News Media issued a statement through the Daily Caller News Foundation, congratulating Hegseth on his nomination.

The network praised his contributions to Fox News and acknowledged his role in the success of their programming.

“Pete Hegseth has been an exceptional host on FOX & Friends and FOX Nation and a best-selling author for FOX News Books for nearly a decade. His insights and analysis especially about the military resonated deeply with our viewers and made the program the major success that it is today. We are extremely proud of his work at FOX News Media and wish him the best of luck in Washington,” the statement read.

Hegseth’s nomination aligns with Trump’s recent high-profile selections for top government positions, signaling a return to many of the former president’s America First principles.

In the last week, Trump also named former Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe as his pick for CIA Director, Republican Florida Rep. Mike Waltz as White House National Security Advisor, former acting director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement Tom Homan as the new “border czar,” and former Republican New York Rep. Lee Zeldin as the administrator of the Environmental Protection Agency.

These appointments underscore Trump’s strategy of selecting figures with solid conservative credentials and extensive backgrounds in military and security roles to fill critical posts.

With Hegseth’s nomination, Trump sends a message of continuity in military policy and leadership, emphasizing strong support for troops and a robust defense stance.

If confirmed, Hegseth will be tasked with advancing Trump’s national security objectives and overseeing the Pentagon’s strategic priorities.

His leadership will likely reflect Trump’s “Peace through Strength” doctrine, which calls for maintaining a powerful military presence and reinforcing American defense capabilities on the global stage.

Trump’s latest picks continue to shape his vision for his next administration, aiming to reinforce national security, streamline defense policies, and prioritize military readiness.
