In a New Hampshire congressional debate on Thursday, Republican candidate Lily Tang Williams confronted Democratic opponent Maggie Goodlander, criticizing her understanding of the economic challenges faced by average Americans.
Goodlander, formerly an aide in the Biden White House and a Justice Department official, is married to Jake Sullivan, who currently serves as the president’s national security adviser.
The debate, reported by WMUR, focused heavily on economic issues as the Bureau of Labor Statistics announced only 12,000 jobs were created in October.

Williams, highlighting her opponent’s significant wealth, challenged Goodlander’s claim of connecting with everyday struggles. “You’re worth $20 million or $30 million,” Williams stated. “How did you know about regular people’s suffering? Do you go shopping, go to warm up, buy food? I talked to those people.”
Williams accused Goodlander of portraying herself as a renter in New Hampshire despite her substantial financial assets, alleging that she only moved back recently to run for the open congressional seat.
“And you pretend to be a renter in Nashua moving back a few months ago to run for this open seat with millions of dollars from Washington, D.C. insiders, and the millions, millions of dollars,” Williams continued.
“I don’t have money to run TV ads. You’re pretending to be poor, complaining rent is so high, you couldn’t save that apartment for other people to rent in Nashua, just go back to your $2 million home import business. Please don’t say that because you do not understand regular people’s concerns.”
Thanks for sharing. I need all the help from the patriots to win on Tuesday.

Economic pressures have become a major concern for voters, with inflation rising since Joe Biden and Kamala Harris assumed office in January 2021.
Prices have gone up by over 20%, and the Consumer Price Index (CPI) peaked at 9% in June 2022.
In comparison, when former President Donald Trump left office in January 2021, the CPI increase was just 1.4% year-over-year, and gas prices averaged below $2.25 per gallon, according to GasBuddy.com.
Biden’s handling of the economy has not received strong approval.
According to RealClearPolling’s average, only 39.8% of Americans approve of his economic performance, with lower ratings on inflation at 36% and immigration at 34.8%.
These issues have remained focal points for Trump as he campaigns for a potential return to the White House.
The latest RealClearPolling averages from Oct. 11 to Nov. 1 show a tight race, with Harris trailing Trump by a narrow 0.3%.
When factoring in other candidates like Green Party’s Dr. Jill Stein, independent Cornel West, and Libertarian Chase Oliver, the two main candidates remain closely matched.
