GOP Rep. Refuses to Deny Biological Facts, Introduces Rep. Sarah McBride as ‘Mister’ [WATCH]

During a House session on Wednesday, Rep. Mary Miller (R-IL) introduced Rep. Sarah McBride (D-DE) using male pronouns, refusing to acknowledge McBride’s self-identified gender.

McBride, who is a biological male identifying as female, was set to deliver a speech on the House floor, marking his first official remarks in the chamber.

As McBride prepared to speak, Miller, who was presiding over the chamber, introduced him as follows:

“The chair recognizes the gentleman from Delaware, Mr. McBride, for five minutes,” Miller stated.

In a social media post accompanying a video of the moment, Miller explained her reasoning.

“Today on the House Floor, I refused to deny biological reality,” Miller wrote.

“President Trump restored biological truth in the Federal Government, and I refuse to perpetuate the lie that gender is open to our interpretation. It is not.”

McBride did not address Miller’s introduction and proceeded with his speech, criticizing President Donald Trump’s administration and the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE).

“Piece by piece, department by department, the Trump administration is defunding critical federal services, purging employees, consolidating power, and cutting and gutting programs that Delawareans rely on,” McBride stated.

He went on to accuse the administration of attempting to dismantle the federal government for political gain.

“They are trying to decimate the federal government and sell it for parts to line the pockets of donors at the expense of working people.”

Miller’s refusal to use McBride’s preferred pronouns aligns with recent policy changes under the Trump administration, which reversed Biden-era mandates that required federal agencies to recognize gender identity in official records and communications.

Trump’s executive order on biological sex in federal government policy reinstated traditional definitions of male and female in official documents and communication, affecting areas such as education, healthcare, and federal employment.

Miller’s remarks are part of a broader effort by conservative lawmakers to push back against gender ideology in government and public policy.

While Miller’s introduction was welcomed by many conservatives, Democratic lawmakers condemned the act as disrespectful and inflammatory.

McBride, the first openly transgender member of Congress, has been an advocate for LGBTQ+ issues and expanded federal protections based on gender identity.

Despite this, Republicans have moved forward with legislation aimed at reinforcing biological definitions of sex in federal law, with multiple GOP-led states passing laws restricting gender identity policies in education, sports, and government agencies.

McBride continued his criticism of Trump’s administration and its policies, accusing DOGE of intentionally dismantling government agencies.

“They do not want to make government more efficient. They want to prove that government can’t work, by making it not work,” he added.

With Republicans in control of the House, clashes over gender policies, government spending, and agency oversight are expected to continue as Trump’s administration implements more executive actions.
