Fox News host Rob Finnerty criticized how the shooting death of Alex Pretti in Minneapolis has been portrayed by political leaders and activists, arguing that comments from Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz have fueled a misleading narrative about the incident.

During a segment addressing the fatal shooting of Pretti by federal agents, Finnerty said the left has pushed an account that presents Pretti as an innocent victim, despite details surrounding the confrontation.

Warning: Account balances and purchasing power no longer tell the same story. Know in 2 minutes if your retirement is working for you.

“Because everyone on the left, including three former presidents and Governor tampon, want America to believe their version of the story that Alex Pretti was just some guy walking out of a donut shop directing traffic who randomly got shot 10 times by federal agents for no reason at all,” Finnerty said.

“And that’s not me saying that. It’s Tim Walz.”

Finnerty then pointed to remarks made by Walz in which the governor addressed Minnesotans following the shooting, urging calm while referencing public anger over the incident.

“I speaking to the people of Minnesota right now, I hear that scream from you, and I’ll continue to plead and ask you for peace,” Walz said.

“And I know, I know the answer is, you ask us for peace, and we give it, and we get shot in the face on the streets coming out of a donut shop.”

Finnerty argued that Walz’s framing reinforced what he described as a false impression of the circumstances surrounding Pretti’s death.

He said the comments suggested Pretti was an uninvolved bystander rather than someone engaged in a confrontation with federal law enforcement.

“Did you catch that right there, like Alex Pretti picked up a crawler in a black coffee at a local Minneapolis Antifa donut shop and was just shot by federal agents for no reason,” Finnerty said. “Think about how damaging comments like that are.”

Finnerty said the broader response in Minneapolis reflects a pattern of celebrating individuals he said broke the law and resisted federal agents.

He referenced both Pretti and Renee Good, another figure involved in a separate confrontation with law enforcement, arguing that both have been wrongly elevated as heroes.

“Once again, only in Minneapolis are people like Renee Good and Alex Pretti treated like heroes for breaking the law, and only in Minneapolis are they treated like heroes for being pretty good at being pretty stupid,” Finnerty said.

Finnerty said the situation should not be complicated, arguing that resistance to law enforcement and actions that endanger officers or the public carry consequences.

“I hate how we over complicate this,” he said.

“What Renee Good did resisting arrest and trying to run over a federal agent was really stupid, really stupid, and what Alex Pretti did was also really stupid. And there’s just no other way to describe this information.”
