A Thanksgiving Day tradition turned chaotic when a group of deer unexpectedly charged through the annual Turkey Day Run in Watertown, New York, on November 28, leaving two women injured.

The incident, which was caught on camera, quickly gained widespread attention and drew comparisons to the popular holiday song “Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer.”

The viral footage shows at least four deer sprinting through the starting area of the event, startling participants and onlookers.

As the deer barreled down the street, one animal collided directly with two female runners, knocking them to the ground.

Bystanders screamed in shock as the deer fled the scene, leaving the runners sprawled in the street.

The chaotic moment, shared widely on social media, sparked a flurry of humorous reactions, with many drawing parallels to the classic Christmas tune.

“Never did I dream I would see this song come to life,” one user commented on Facebook.

Another quipped, “Truly a classic, and we finally witnessed it.”

Despite the bizarre nature of the incident, the runners received immediate assistance.

According to local reports from WWNY, one of the women was transported to a nearby hospital via ambulance, where she was treated for minor injuries.

The other runner was treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization.

The annual Turkey Day Run is a popular event in Watertown, attracting participants from across the area for a morning of fun and fitness before Thanksgiving celebrations.

This year’s event, however, took an unexpected turn with the appearance of the deer, leaving participants and organizers stunned.

The incident has sparked discussions about the unpredictability of outdoor events and the need for safety measures, even in unlikely scenarios such as wildlife encounters.

Event organizers have not yet released a statement addressing the deer collision but have assured participants that the injured runners are recovering.

The video has continued to circulate online, drawing both concern for the injured women and lighthearted commentary about the unusual nature of the mishap.

Many social media users have praised the quick response of event volunteers and emergency personnel, who ensured that the situation was handled promptly.

As the Thanksgiving weekend drew to a close, the incident served as a reminder of the unpredictable challenges that can arise during community events.

Local officials and event organizers are expected to review the incident and consider measures to prevent similar occurrences in future events.
