Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-TX) is facing backlash for her offensive comments about Texas Governor Greg Abbott, but despite the controversy, Abbott has responded with humor and composure, reinforcing his position as the more dignified figure in this exchange.

During a fundraising event for the far-left Human Rights Campaign in Los Angeles this past Saturday, Crockett made a disparaging remark about Abbott, referring to him as “Gov. Hot Wheels.”

She said, “Y’all know we got Gov. Hot Wheels down there. Come on now,” before continuing, “And the only thing hot about him is that he is a hot a** mess, honey.”

Th Governor of Texas, Greg Abbott, has used a wheelchair since 1984 when he was tragically paralyzed in an accident. Today, the unquestioned leader of the Democratic Party, Rep. Jasmine Crockett, mocks him with the insult “Governor Hot Wheels.” https://t.co/2etrTie8LP

The comment quickly sparked outrage across political lines, with critics ranging from Republicans, including President Donald Trump, to some members of the left expressing their disapproval.

Governor Abbott, who has been paralyzed and confined to a wheelchair since a tragic accident in 1984, has faced criticism before for his handling of various political issues.

However, his ability to rise above attacks on his disability has earned him respect from many. Abbott was severely injured at the age of 26 when a falling oak tree struck him while he was out jogging.

Since then, he has gone on to serve three terms as Texas’s governor, after holding positions as the state’s attorney general and serving on the Texas Supreme Court.

In response to Crockett’s comment, Abbott initially took a firm yet composed stance.

In an interview with Fox News, he pointed out, “It’s another day and another disaster by the Democrats. The reality is they have no vision, no policy. They have nothing to sell but hate, and Americans are not buying it.”

His remarks were widely seen as a succinct and pointed critique of the Democrat party’s inability to offer a positive agenda, using Crockett’s inflammatory statement to highlight the negativity prevalent in the current political discourse.

However, Abbott didn’t stop there. He later responded to Crockett’s jab with humor, turning the situation into an opportunity to embrace the image of a superhero.

Abbott shared a playful social media post featuring a rendering of himself in an X-Men character costume.

He joked that he needed the superhero outfit so people could “see me rollin’,” a lighthearted response to Crockett’s disparaging remarks.

Gotta add this to my resume.

Need the outfit.

Abbott’s clever response drew praise from many, with one X user noting, “This is the perfect way for Abbott to brush off Crockett’s nonsense and flip the narrative. A power move, a feel-good flex, and a reminder that resilience wins every time.”

Crockett, for her part, has insisted that her comment was directed at Abbott’s 2022 program of bussing illegal immigrants to other states and not at his disability.

However, social media evidence suggests otherwise.

Crockett had made similar comments about Abbott well before the implementation of the bussing program, calling him “Gov. Hot Wheels” in 2021, long before the program was in place.

Abbott’s dignified and humorous handling of the situation contrasts sharply with the vitriol and division often displayed by members of the left.

His ability to rise above the personal attacks, while also deftly turning the narrative in his favor, has earned him further admiration, especially from those who appreciate his resilience in the face of adversity.

While Crockett continues to defend her remarks, Governor Abbott’s response has shown that he remains unshaken, demonstrating once again that resilience and grace are qualities that far outweigh petty political attacks.

As the controversy continues, Abbott’s ability to stay above the fray sets an example of how to navigate political disagreements with dignity and strength.

In the end, Abbott’s calm and collected response is a reminder of the strength it takes to rise above divisive rhetoric, especially in an increasingly polarized political landscape.

Texas, under his leadership, continues to stand as a beacon of resilience and strength.
