Guests Furious and Demand Compensation [WATCH]

Chaos erupted aboard the Carnival Vista cruise when passengers discovered their Caribbean vacation dreams were derailed due to engine trouble.

The unfortunate guests, eager for an 8-night Southern Caribbean adventure from Port Canaveral, Florida, were met with a bombshell — no Aruba, no Curaçao, no Turks and Caicos, as reported by the New York Post.

Instead, Carnival rerouted them to the Bahamas, citing a “technical issue affecting the ship’s cruising speed.”

Five of the originally planned six cruise ships planned for Sunday were at Port Canaveral on December 26. Port Canaveral officials estimate that about 36,000 passengers will be getting on or off these ships on Sunday. The sixth ship, Royal Caribbean Anthem of the Seas, was delayed due to weather. As frustrated passengers boarded on Aug. 10, the announcement hit like a tidal wave.

Carnival crew scrambled to explain the situation, but tempers flared, with demands for refunds echoing through the ship. Some, like an outraged man who had dropped $6,000 on the cruise, were livid. Instagram footage captured the chants: “Give us our money!”

One crew member tried to calm the crowd, urging them, “Ladies and gentlemen, the way you’re going about this with the noise and chaos isn’t going to solve any issues.”

But the passengers weren’t having it. Ashley Ball, one of the disappointed cruisers, vented to Inside Edition, accusing Carnival of withholding crucial information.

“They knew about the problem prior to us getting onto the ship,” Ball said, fuming over how they were told only after clearing customs and security.

Carnival’s quick pivot didn’t ease the fury. They offered onboard credits and future cruise vouchers to those willing to sail to the Bahamas.

For others, a full refund was on the table if they chose not to sail. Yet, passengers felt blindsided, and rightfully so — many had planned and paid for this dream vacation, only to have it snatched away without notice.

The Vista has had more than its share of troubles. This wasn’t an isolated incident either. The ship’s Sept. 7 departure was canceled after more mechanical issues cropped up. It seems like Carnival is having a bit of a streak with bad luck and furious passengers.

For Ashley Ball and countless others, the Carnival experience has left a sour taste.

A Brooklyn family, for example, missed their own Carnival cruise in June due to flight delays. After saving up $8,500 for an eight-day adventure, Tisha LaSaine and her family watched the cruise ship sail off into the sunset without them.
