Harriet Hageman Just Shredded the Left’s Gender Confusion on the House Floor [WATCH]

Rep. Harriet Hageman forcefully rejected attempts to redefine sex and gender during remarks supporting legislation that bars men from competing in women’s sports, arguing that biological sex is easily determined and that the push to blur those distinctions undermines civil order.

Hageman said determining sex does not require subjective standards or ideological frameworks, but simple biological identification.

“The fact is that all you need to do to determine sex is a cheek swab. If you’re an XX or an XY, you’re either a boy or a girl. It’s that simple. This isn’t complicated,” Hageman said.

She criticized what she described as efforts by the political left to redefine long-standing language and social norms.

“It’s not like we haven’t known what women and men were for not just a matter of years, but decades and centuries and 1000s of years before that,” she said.

“The fact that we’re having this conversation and this debate just absolutely epitomizes the left’s ongoing effort to rewrite the English language in order to change the debate and destroy civil order.”

Hageman rejected terminology she said has no basis in biology or history.

“Cisgender is a made up word cisgender is that means nothing. Do not call me cisgender. I am a woman,” she said.

“This gentleman sitting next to me, he is a man. That’s who he is. That is what our title is. That is what we have been described throughout history.”

Addressing the substance of the legislation, Hageman said the bill does not restrict participation in men’s athletics, but clearly draws a line when it comes to women’s sports.

“We’re not this bill does nothing to prohibit men from competing in men’s sports. I will repeat this bill does nothing to prohibit men from competing in men’s sports,” she said.

“It does prohibit men from competing in women’s sports. It is that simple.”

Hageman pointed to international competition as an example of why the issue matters, referencing a boxing match during the Paris Olympics.

“All we have to do is look at what happened during the Paris Olympics, where we watched a dude beat the hell out of a woman in a boxing match, and we have people on the other side of the aisle who actually believe that that is okay,” she said.

She rejected claims that biological sex can be overridden and said testing has already established the facts in such cases.

“That man is not a woman. He has been tested repeatedly that is a man, and he will not be allowed to compete against women in the future, because he is a man,” Hageman said.

She said allowing men to compete against women in sports is unacceptable across all athletic disciplines.

“We do not want men beating up women. We do not want men in women’s soccer or volleyball or basketball or rugby or swimming or any other athletic competition,” she said.

Hageman also criticized suggestions that physical inspections be used to determine eligibility, calling the idea disturbing.

“This isn’t difficult. All you need to do it for any kind of determination for sex is a cheek swab,” she said.

“The fact that you guys are talking about doing these inspections of people, and the fact that the Boxing Association used to do that, that’s sick. That is sick.”
