Vice President Kamala Harris tied herself to President Joe Biden during an interview with “The View,” saying she wouldn’t have done anything differently than the 81-year-old.
Harris continued on with her friendly media tour Tuesday, which includes an interview with Alex Cooper’s “Call Her Daddy,” “The View,” “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert” and “The Howard Stern Show.” The vice president, joining “The View” nearly two weeks after Biden, discussed the border crisis, her opponent and her lack of distance from Biden. “If anything, would you have done something differently than President Biden during the past four years?” co-host Sunny Hostin asked Harris.
“There is not a thing that comes to mind in terms of, and I’ve been apart of most of the decisions that have had impact, the work we have done, for example, capping the cost of insulin at $35 a month for our seniors. It’s something I care deeply about, about allowing medicare to negotiate drug prices and bring the cost of prescription medication down for seniors but my intention is to expand that for all Americans,” Harris began.
“The work we have done to invest in the American industries whether it be in terms of manufacturing, creating almost 800,000 new jobs around manufacturing, those were all a shared priority,” the vice president continued.

Early in Harris’ short campaign, the vice president began plotting to distance herself from Biden, just days after the White House called the duo “critical partners,” anonymous advisers told Axios. Specifically, the outlet reported that the vice president wanted to move away from Biden on his economic policy, inflation and price increases, as well as his “often-backward-looking lens on democracy and other issues.” (RELATED: Biden’s Inner Circle Is Reportedly Scrambling To Salvage ‘Bidenomics’ Messaging After Months Of Failure)
Harris later was asked to explain how, given her running mate and his criminal conviction, people still expect it to be a close election, which caused the vice president to rattle off the names of Republicans who have endorsed her and detail the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot.
“What [Trump] does not talk about is you,” says Vice Pres. Kamala Harris on the rhetoric in former Pres. Trump’s campaign rallies.

Later in the interview, the vice president provided a distinction between her and her old running mate.
“And again, the core of this is about just practical solutions, common sense solutions,” Harris said about her plan for Medicare. “I mean, that’s really how I come at. Most of the things I work on and the things I intend to work on as president, bipartisan. Listen, I plan on having a Republican in my cabinet.”
“The difference between Joe Biden and me? Well, that will be one of the differences. I’m going to have a Republican because I don’t, I don’t feel burdened by letting pride get in the way of a good idea,” Harris continued.
The vice president was also asked to recount the moment where Biden called her and told her he would be dropping out of the race and endorsing her for president. Two weeks earlier, Biden had told “The View” he was at peace with his decision to drop out but still felt that he could beat Trump if he stayed in.

Harris was grilled in a “60 Minutes” interview that aired Monday night. Harris has now done three national solo sit-downs, with a dual appearance on CNN with Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz. (RELATED: MSNBC Pundit Who Interviewed Harris Says It’s ‘Okay’ VP Didn’t Give ‘Clear’ Answers)
“60 Minutes” host Bill Whitaker tongue-tied Harris in several moments, including during questions about the economy, the border and why voters still feel like they don’t know the vice president.
“Okay, so the other economists who have reviewed my plan versus my opponent’s, determined that my economic plan would strengthen America’s economy, his would weaken it. My plan, Bill, if you don’t mind, my plan is about saying that when you invest in small businesses, you invest in the middle class and you strengthen America’s economy. Small businesses are part of the backbone of America’s economy,” Harris began to respond.
“But pardon me, Madam Vice President. The question was, how are you going to pay for it?” Whitaker interjected.
“Well, one of the things I’m going to make sure that the richest among us who can afford it pay their fair share in taxes. It is not right that teachers and nurses and firefighters are paying a higher tax rate than billionaires and the biggest corporations. And I plan on making that fair.”
Whitaker interjected again, reminding Harris that they were “dealing with the real world,” asking her how she expected to get such a plan through Congress.
