High-Speed Boat Crash on Lake Havasu Sends Racers Airborne at 210 MPH [WATCH]

Two speedboat racers survived a high-speed crash after their boat went airborne at more than 200 miles per hour during a boating event on Lake Havasu, Arizona, on Saturday, as reported by the Gateway Pundit.

The incident occurred during the Desert Storm Shootout, an annual event that features high-performance powerboats racing at extreme speeds.

Thousands showed up to Sarasota’s Lido Beach for the annual 37th Sarasota Powerboat Grand Prix Racing festivities. Saturday’s line-up included P1 AquaX personal watercraft racing in the morning and afternoon, followed by P1 Offshore powerboat testing, then was the World Powerboat Championship teams competing for today’s (Sunday) pole position followed by Bracket Class 700, 600, and 500 racing. The racers, part of the Freedom One Racing team based in Kansas City, Missouri, were attempting to break a speed record when their boat launched into the air, flipped, and crashed into the water.

Footage from inside the boat’s cockpit showed the racers reaching speeds of 210 miles per hour shortly before the crash.

Spectators described the crash as horrifying, but fortunately, the two individuals onboard sustained only minor injuries. Following the incident, Freedom One Racing issued a statement on Facebook, saying:

“We are glad everyone is safe and in good condition! Here is the footage from inside the cockpit from yesterday! Thanks to everyone that has reached out and for all of the prayers!”

Photos posted after the crash showed significant damage to the Freedom One Racing boat.

The Arizona Republic reported that the boat was traveling around 200 miles per hour when it became airborne, performing a backflip and twisting in midair before slamming into the water.

The Desert Storm Shootout, held annually at Lake Havasu, draws boating enthusiasts from across the country and showcases some of the fastest powerboats in the world.

Despite the crash, the event continued, with organizers emphasizing safety and emergency protocols in place.

Authorities confirmed that both racers were treated for minor injuries and released shortly after the crash.

The event serves as one of the premier speedboat gatherings in the nation, attracting teams and spectators alike for the high-octane competition.

Freedom One Racing has not yet announced whether the team will participate in future races following the incident.
