A police pursuit in East Los Angeles ended in a fatal officer-involved shooting late Wednesday morning, leaving one man dead and another hospitalized after a crash and standoff on the 5 Freeway.
According to the Los Angeles Police Department, officers were pursuing a possible felony suspect when the situation escalated on the southbound side of the 5 Freeway near the Olympic Boulevard off-ramp.
Authorities said the suspect’s vehicle collided with a patrol vehicle during the pursuit, bringing the chase to a stop.

While the passenger was taken into custody and transported for medical treatment, officers continued to focus on the driver, who remained inside the vehicle.
