Hillary Clinton is facing backlash after calling on “Americans of conscience” to oppose the deportation of a verified MS-13 gang member who had been living illegally in Maryland for nearly 15 years.

As reported by The Gateway Pundit, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, a Salvadoran national, was deported on March 15, 2025, to El Salvador’s Terrorism Confinement Center (CECOT), following a series of legal proceedings that confirmed his status as a member of the violent criminal organization MS-13.

In a social media post on Thursday, Clinton suggested that the deportation of Abrego Garcia marked a broader threat to civil liberties.

“Before the election, I warned that there is no safe haven under authoritarianism,” Clinton wrote on X. “If they can ship Kilmar Abrego Garcia to a foreign prison—accused of no crime, with no trial—they can do it to anyone.”

She concluded the post by calling on “Americans of conscience” to “stand against this now.”

Americans of conscience must stand against this now.

The response to Clinton’s comments was swift, especially as further details of Abrego Garcia’s background continue to emerge.

According to immigration and law enforcement records, Abrego Garcia’s wife, Jennifer Vasquez Sura, filed a temporary protective order against him in May 2021, alleging domestic violence. She accused him of punching, scratching, and beating her.

Clinton’s defense comes despite the Department of Homeland Security identifying Abrego Garcia as a “verified” MS-13 member as early as 2019.

That same year, Prince George’s County Police detained him after he was found loitering outside a Home Depot with two known MS-13 members.

During that incident, Abrego Garcia was found to be a “Chequeo” — a gang rank — and was reportedly operating under the nickname “Chele.”

Law enforcement also noted he was wearing gang-affiliated clothing at the time, including a Chicago Bulls hat and a hoodie displaying gang symbols.

In 2025, MS-13 was formally designated as a foreign terrorist organization (FTO) by Secretary of State Marco Rubio. The designation allowed for streamlined legal action against individuals with confirmed ties to the gang.

Attorney General of the United States Pam Bondi responded to questions about the case in a press conference this week, making clear that the deportation was final.

“He is an illegal alien who has been living illegally in our country from El Salvador. ICE testified, and an immigration judge ruled, he was a member of MS-13. An appellate judge ruled he was a member of MS-13. Hard stop. He should not be in our country.”

Bondi emphasized that the only delay in his removal was a bureaucratic one. “He would have come back, had one extra step of paperwork and gone back again,” she said.

Pam Bondi recognizes family and friends in attendance as she delivers opening remarks during a Senate Judiciary committee hearing on her nomination to be Attorney General of the United States on Jan. 15, 2025 in Washington, D.C.

“Now, MS-13 is characterized as they should be—as an FTO, as a foreign terrorist organization. He’s from El Salvador. He’s in El Salvador, and that’s where the president plans on keeping him.”

Garcia’s deportation and Clinton’s public remarks have ignited sharp debate over immigration enforcement, public safety, and political priorities as the administration continues to pursue aggressive action against criminal illegal aliens.
