A controversial hot mic moment involving Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R-TX) has ignited a firestorm online after he was recorded making a shocking statement about conservative media personality Tucker Carlson.
On Monday evening, a video posted to X appeared to capture Crenshaw saying he would “f***ing kill” Carlson if the two ever met in person.
The video quickly gained traction before reportedly being deleted, but not before it was widely circulated and condemned.

The remarks were caught following Crenshaw’s interview with GB News, during which the interviewer asked whether he had ever met Carlson.
Crenshaw acknowledged past exchanges with the former Fox News host on social media but stated they had never met in person.
“We’ve talked a lot on Twitter,” Crenshaw said, before adding, “If I ever meet him, I’ll f***ing kill him. I’m not joking. He’s the worst person.”

The comment prompted swift backlash. Carlson quickly responded by challenging Crenshaw to an interview, posting on Instagram and X, “Why don’t you come sit for an interview and we’ll see how you do? I’ll send you my address, @DanCrenshawTX.”

Other prominent figures weighed in on the controversy. Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) took aim at Crenshaw, while X owner Elon Musk questioned, “Why is Crenshaw homicidal regarding Tucker?”
Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) also responded, asking Crenshaw directly, “Did you just threaten to kill my friend?” Crenshaw denied any intent, replying simply, “lol, no.”

This latest incident is just the newest chapter in an ongoing feud between Crenshaw and Carlson, which has escalated over the years.
A major source of their dispute has been Crenshaw’s strong support for U.S. funding of Ukraine in its war against Russia, a position Carlson has staunchly opposed.
Carlson has accused Crenshaw of being a pro-war “neocon,” while Crenshaw has criticized Carlson for what he views as sympathy toward Russian President Vladimir Putin.
“Why do the reddest states produce the dumbest, most liberal Republicans? Why aren’t [Republican Texas Sen.] John Cornyn and Dan Crenshaw bagging groceries at Walmart?” Carlson said in April 2024.
Crenshaw fired back, “Why aren’t you bagging groceries in Moscow?”

Beyond foreign policy, the two have also clashed over Israel’s war against Hamas.
Crenshaw has been a vocal supporter of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s military actions against Hamas, while Carlson has criticized Israel’s bombardment of Gaza, particularly for its toll on civilians, including Christians.
“If you’re intentionally killing civilians, you probably shouldn’t beat your chest and brag about it. … Maybe you can make the case that you had to do it, but you should weep,” Carlson said during an interview with Piers Morgan earlier this month.
Crenshaw previously lashed out at Carlson in April 2023 when the commentator suggested that Netanyahu’s government might be mistreating Christians in Israel.
“This nonsense about Christian mistreatment in Israel is just the latest example,” Crenshaw said.
“Tucker will eventually fade into nothingness because his veneer of faux intellectualism is quickly falling apart and revealing who he truly is: a cowardly, know-nothing elitist who is full of sh*t.”
The two have been at odds on various political matters for years. In January 2023, Crenshaw stirred controversy when he criticized House Republicans who refused to back then-Rep. Kevin McCarthy’s bid for Speaker of the House.
At the time, Crenshaw referred to those members as “terrorists,” “narcissists,” and “enemies.”
Carlson slammed Crenshaw for the remarks, stating, “The deep loathing of disobedient voters that may be their most passionate secret emotion. But they’re not bothering to hide that emotion anymore. Now you know how they really feel.”
The latest controversy has only intensified scrutiny on Crenshaw, with social media users and political figures from both sides reacting to his hot mic moment.
Whether the Texas congressman will face further fallout remains to be seen.
