ICE Agent Takes Down Illegal Alien’s Wife, Gets Suspended Then Reinstated [WATCH]

An Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officer who was suspended from duty following an altercation with the wife of an illegal alien outside a New York City immigration court has been reinstated after officials reviewed video footage of the incident.

The confrontation occurred on Friday when Monica Moreta-Galarza, an asylum seeker from Ecuador, was outside the Manhattan courthouse pleading for the release of her husband.

During the exchange, the ICE agent reportedly told her “adios.”

Moreta-Galarza then confronted the agent, stepped into his space, and began grabbing at his chest.

The officer responded by pulling her down a hallway and forcing her to the ground.

The incident quickly circulated on social media and drew immediate condemnation from activist groups and several elected officials who have been protesting ICE operations outside the courthouse.

Rep. Dan Goldman (D-NY) said that Moreta-Galarza and her two children came to his office following the encounter.

He accused the ICE officer of excessive violence and suggested that criminal prosecution should be pursued.

“These are secret police officers who are attacking our communities with excessive violence … and they just think that they can do it with impunity, because nobody is holding them accountable,” Goldman said in remarks to reporters.

Goldman, along with New York City Comptroller Brad Lander, sent a two-page letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi urging her office to pursue felony charges against the ICE officer involved.

The Department of Homeland Security also issued an initial statement on Friday.

Spokeswoman Tricia McLaughlin described the conduct as “unacceptable and beneath the men and women of ICE,” confirming that the officer had been removed from active duty pending a full investigation.

“Our ICE law enforcement are held to the highest professional standards and this officer is being relieved of current duties as we conduct a full investigation,” she said.

The suspension sparked backlash from conservative commentators and supporters of ICE, who argued that the video showed the woman initiating physical contact with the officer.

Ryan Fournier, a conservative activist, said on social media: “The woman who assaulted an ICE Agent and subsequently was thrown to the ground should be deported IMMEDIATELY. And the ICE Agent who was suspended for it should immediately be reinstated with back pay.”

On Sunday, Human Events editor Jack Posobiec reported that the officer had been reinstated after a review of the footage cleared him of wrongdoing.

“I am told this ICE officer has been returned to full active duty after a complete footage review which shows he did nothing wrong,” Posobiec said.

The timing of the courthouse altercation came just days after a separate attack on an ICE facility in Dallas.

In that case, a far-left extremist opened fire outside the building, killing two detainees and critically injuring another.

Officials said the shooter indiscriminately targeted a transport van carrying detainees.

The reinstatement of the officer in New York followed days of heightened tensions for federal immigration authorities nationwide.

ICE leadership has not released additional details on the internal review process but confirmed that the agent is now back on active duty.

Law enforcement officials have not announced whether charges will be filed against Moreta-Galarza, who appeared to initiate physical contact with the officer during the altercation.

The Department of Justice has not issued a public statement regarding Goldman and Lander’s request for felony charges.

The case remains under review as protests continue outside the New York City immigration courthouse, where demonstrators have regularly gathered to oppose deportation proceedings.
