Former three-term Washington State governor Jay Inslee is as blue as the ocean but not nearly as deep when it comes to his thought processes. As an established and dependable true-blue tool himself, Inslee is also well-versed in the slimy use of rhetorical ones when his rabidly partisan brain surrenders to impulse and kicks into thinking up a stinker to toss into ongoing controversy.
In their public rants regarding the law enforcement situation in Minnesota, everyone else has been wielding standard fascist, Nazi, stormtrooper, etc., epithets, so I guess the man thought he’d pull a fresh objection out of the calumny crate – take an angle that hadn’t been used against the immigration efforts yet.
In the midst of ICE horror, the Senate needs to prohibit Trump from using ICE as a voter suppression tool. Senate Dems need to put into the approps bill a prohibition on ICE agents being near polling places. This is a must have. Last chance to do this.

I’ll admit – on its face, it’s a bit of a puzzlement.

Well, hang on, says anyone with more than the half-brain Inslee possesses.
WHUT?
How could Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) be a ‘voter suppression tool’ when the people they’re specifically tasked with targeting and removing cannot vote?
Shouldn’t be anywhere near a booth? Should never have their name on a registration list?
As we are so often assured, with the most self-righteous anger ever, that they do not…EH-VAH.
Why the Myth of Noncitizen Voting Persists
Cynical political operatives are stirring these rumors for their own gain.
The scary and entirely imaginary notion that millions of noncitizens will vote in November is the most widespread rumor in our politics. It did not just emerge from the fever swamps of the dark web. Rather, it’s a conspiracy theory being pushed, it’s now clear, by leading political figures for partisan gain.
On Sunday, the New York Times reported that former President Donald Trump and Sen. JD Vance are pushing hard the false claim that millions of noncitizens will vote in this election. “When [Kamala Harris] let in millions of illegal aliens,” Vance told a rally in Michigan, “it made our communities less safe — but it did give the Democrats a lot of voters.”
The story paints a disturbing picture that goes beyond the candidates’ claims. Reporter Jazmine Ulloa interviewed voters who said they believed the rumors. “There has got to be a reason they are letting so many people in,” one told her.
It’s worth saying, once again, that the notion of widespread noncitizen voting is a lie. An urban myth. It’s simply not true. States have a multiplicity of systems in place to prevent it from happening. Noncitizen voting is illegal four times over, and the reality is that it’s incredibly rare. My colleagues at the Brennan Center have compiled these resources on the topic. We’re fighting fear with facts.
IT’S ‘INCREDIBLY RARE’ AND HOW DARE WE
The comments on the former governor’s Xweet admit confusion and a mixture of alarm at the meaning of his message.
Wait… are illegals voting?

…and proposing a reverse strategy. If Democrats want ICE away from polling places, perhaps that’s the Bat Signal that ICE needs to BE THERE.
Why would ICE be at polling places unless youre letting illegals vote?
Now I WANT ICE at polling locations nation wide.

That could quite possibly be the case in some questionable districts where the ‘impossible’ and ‘incredibly rare’ sure seem to happen routinely enough to worry. It’s obviously happening enough that the organizations that are at the heart of protecting illegal aliens have taken to changing the verbiage to a more defensive position – from ‘never happens/incredibly rare’ to a weasel-worded ‘not in enough numbers that it matters.’
OH – OKAY
It is illegal for noncitizens to vote in federal or state elections in the United States. There is no evidence that unauthorized immigrants, green-card holders, or immigrants on temporary visas are voting in significant numbers, despite some claims that “millions” of noncitizens are voting in U.S. elections. In fact, audits by election officials and numerous studies reflect that voter fraud by noncitizens is extremely rare.
…Despite these federal and state prohibitions, and the absence of evidence that noncitizen voting is significant, a number of Republican elected officials have introduced measures that would mandate additional ID requirements for all voters or verification of eligibility.
Isn’t that better? That’s better, so quit worrying.
When it rarely happens, it’s nothing anyway…you fascists.
I read Inslee’s goofy, pathetic little Xweet in much the same vein as everyone else, but then I started thinking maybe this was also another tacit admission – kind of a loose association with the power ICE actually has at the ballot and at polling places, especially in states like Minnesota, California, or New York. Those blue states with heavy illegal immigrant populations that ICE and its sister enforcement agencies are gradually whittling their way down.
Maybe Inslee was speaking in tongues, but what his words do in a roundabout way is highlight the impact, particularly in Minnesota, that the deportations are having on the population count overall.
For instance, after the 2020 census, Minnesota was spared by a mere 89 people from losing one of its eight congressional seats.
The Trump immigration efforts have wiped that margin out and then some.
Yes, Minnesota was extremely close to losing a congressional seat after the 2020 census—it retained its 8th seat by a margin equivalent to just 89 more people in New York. Slower population growth relative to other states nearly cost it. Deportations could impact future counts,…

As desperate taxpayers flee the burdens in these northern states and California, they have to depend more and more on their immigrant population, illegal or otherwise, to keep their representation numbers up in Washington, D.C. As the red states gleefully poach their tax base and deportation efforts ramp up to strip them of their illegals, that’s going to become almost impossible.
It has blue state power brokers very worried. It has them helping mobilize the street thugs and writing cryptic Xweets.
None of it has ever been organic.
Maybe even ICEy pits in their tummies at the thought.
If Trump succeeds in removing illegals from the census?
In recent weeks, President Trump has indicated that he wants the US Census Bureau to start work on a “new” census that would explicitly exclude people living in the country without legal status, including those who are undocumented or living in the country without proper authorization. Changing who gets counted in the census has real consequences. The census determines how many seats each state gets in Congress and how many Electoral College votes they have in presidential elections. It also affects the distribution of billions of federal dollars for schools, roads, health care, and countless other vital programs.
The census is mandated by the US Constitution, which explicitly states that it should be conducted every 10 years and count “the whole number of persons in each State,” as per the 14th Amendment. For more than 150 years, the US Census Bureau has followed these instructions. Deviating from these guidelines now to exclude the roughly 11 million US residents without legal status would hurt communities nationwide.
Katy bar the door to the panic room.
