ICE Center Evacuated After Officer Collapses, Migrant Detained

A Florida Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facility turned into a scene of chaos Thursday morning when a Cuban migrant brought in a package containing a white powdery substance.

As reported by The New York Post, the alarming incident led to a security guard falling ill and forced authorities to evacuate the building.

According to law enforcement, the situation unfolded at the ICE office in Miramar just after 7:00 a.m. A security officer, performing routine screenings, came into contact with the substance and immediately began experiencing symptoms.

Authorities have not yet disclosed whether the security guard physically touched the package or if mere proximity to the substance triggered the reaction.

Miramar police public information officer Janice McIntosh confirmed that both the officer and the migrant were initially quarantined while authorities worked to identify the substance. As a precaution, they were later transported to a hospital and released after evaluation.

With the safety of personnel at risk, ICE and local law enforcement ordered a partial evacuation of the building. The all-clear was given around 9:45 a.m., allowing normal operations to resume.

The Cuban national responsible for bringing in the package was immediately detained and is now facing federal charges. ICE has chosen not to release the migrant’s identity or confirm what the substance was at this time.

However, the incident has intensified concerns surrounding the agency’s security measures as it continues enforcing immigration laws under the Trump administration.

A witness waiting in line outside the facility described seeing an employee collapse to his knees before two officials rushed to his aid. The individual was quickly taken inside the building for treatment before being transported to a medical facility.
