Rep. Nancy Mace (R-SC) appeared on Fox News this week to address growing concerns over newly declassified information tied to the Crossfire Hurricane investigation, which she said confirms a coordinated effort within the federal government to undermine President Donald Trump dating back to his 2015 campaign announcement.

Speaking with host Harris Faulkner on The Faulkner Focus, Mace pointed to findings released in a recent annex to Special Counsel John Durham’s final report, which has reignited scrutiny around the origins of the Trump-Russia collusion narrative.

The annex includes confirmation that former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton approved a plan to link Donald Trump to Russia in the lead-up to the 2016 election.

“If you didn’t believe in the deep state then, you absolutely should believe in the deep state now,” Mace said.

“This was a political hit job worth about $32 million from the top down in the White House all the way down, using agencies like the CIA, the FBI, and the DOJ to kneecap Donald Trump before an election.”

Mace described the operation as a top-down campaign that weaponized federal agencies in an attempt to damage Trump’s candidacy and later his presidency.

The newly declassified materials build on Durham’s May 2023 report, which concluded that the FBI launched the Crossfire Hurricane investigation without proper justification and failed to follow its own protocols throughout the process.

“Maybe it didn’t manipulate votes,” Mace continued, “however, the way that the mainstream media covered it as fact, the way that they blew President Trump up over this and smeared him—that’s on them. I hope that the DOJ will have real bona fide criminal referrals, indictments, and that people go to jail for this conspiracy.”

The annex released last week reiterates that the Trump-Russia narrative was initiated despite a lack of direct evidence.

It also confirms that the FBI relied heavily on information from sources such as CrowdStrike, a private cybersecurity firm hired by the Democratic National Committee (DNC), despite CrowdStrike’s own admission in internal testimony that they had no evidence Russia exfiltrated any emails from DNC servers.

Mace also called attention to the involvement of the media, accusing major news outlets of amplifying unverified claims while ignoring later evidence that undermined the original narrative.

“It’s illegal, it’s criminal,” Mace stated, referring to the coordination between political operatives, federal agencies, and media entities.

“Thank God that Donald Trump had the courage and he had the strength of millions of Americans also across the country to support him as he fought back against all of the lies, against all of the hoaxes, and against the deep state who was trying to take him out,” Mace said.

In a separate development Thursday, FBI Director Kash Patel echoed similar concerns, saying that the Clinton campaign’s role in approving the Trump-Russia narrative is only part of what has been uncovered, and indicated that additional disclosures are forthcoming.

Durham’s report and the latest annex have intensified calls from House Republicans for further investigation into the conduct of federal agencies during the 2016 election and subsequent years.

As the revelations continue to unfold, lawmakers have signaled their intent to pursue accountability through oversight hearings and possible criminal referrals.
