An 18-year-old illegal immigrant accused of assaulting female students at a Fairfax County high school is now facing additional charges after more alleged victims were identified during an ongoing investigation, as reported by Fox News.

Israel Flores Ortiz, 18, was initially charged with nine counts of assault and battery related to allegations that he inappropriately touched female classmates at a school in Fairfax County, Virginia.

Fairfax County police said they were first alerted to the situation on March 5 after Fairfax High School reported multiple alleged assaults on campus. Authorities obtained an arrest warrant, and Flores Ortiz turned himself in on March 7.

He is currently being held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center, according to authorities.

The Department of Homeland Security identified Flores Ortiz as an illegal immigrant from El Salvador who entered the United States in 2024.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement has filed a detainer requesting that local officials hold him for federal custody.

In a statement provided to Fox 5, DHS called on local officials to cooperate with federal authorities.

“We are calling on Fairfax County to honor our detainer to ensure this violent criminal is removed from our country so he can never claim another victim again,” DHS said.

The case has prompted reactions from parents in the community, including concerns about student safety.

“It’s terrifying as a parent because when I send my daughters to school, I think they’re safe in the care of the school,” parent Stacy Langton told Fox News Digital.

“And in this case, they absolutely were not safe, and I don’t know what parent wouldn’t be completely distraught at the idea that their daughters could be getting sexually battered while they’re changing classes.”

Fairfax County Public Schools issued a statement addressing the situation, emphasizing its policies regarding safety and investigations.

“While Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) is unable to comment on specifics due to federal and state privacy laws, we prioritize student and staff safety, and we fully investigate any time someone shares that an incident has occurred at school, or that they do not feel safe at school,” the district said.

The district added, “We are grateful to our law enforcement partners who continue to work swiftly and thoroughly when there are safety concerns in our schools. The safety of all FCPS students and staff remains a top priority.”

The investigation remains ongoing as authorities continue to review reports and gather information related to the case.
