Brittany M. Hughes, managing editor of MRCTV, sharply criticized Democrats, legacy media outlets, and left-wing protesters for what she described as selective outrage and deliberate silence surrounding crimes committed by illegal aliens, while simultaneously protesting federal immigration enforcement actions.
In a statement addressing recent protests following the fatal shooting of a woman by ICE, Hughes contrasted the reaction to that incident with what she said was a complete lack of attention given to multiple American victims killed by illegal aliens.
“I just want to get this straight here,” Hughes said.
“Laken Riley was attacked and assaulted and beaten to death so badly that her skull was caved in and she wasn’t even recognizable. Jocelyn Nungaray was 12 years old when she was raped and strangled to death under a bridge. Rachel Morin was also a 37-year-old mom when she was attacked, raped, beaten to death, and left beside a jogging trail, all by illegal aliens who shouldn’t have even been in this country in the first place, and there were no protests for them.”
Hughes said neither Democrats nor major media outlets showed concern for those victims.
“The left didn’t care. The media didn’t care. Democrats wouldn’t even stand up in Congress for their names,” she said.
She then criticized mass demonstrations that followed the ICE-involved shooting, arguing that the circumstances surrounding that incident were being deliberately misrepresented.
This Could Be the Most Important Video Gun Owners Watch All Year
“But y’all will gather by the 1000s and stomp through the streets after a woman was shot by ICE after it looks like she hit one of them with her car,” Hughes said.
“Look, I don’t want to see a woman dead in her car, but she’s dead because she was out in the street in a city she didn’t even live in LARPing like she was the hero in Schindler’s List.”
Hughes argued that protesters were trivializing the real-world consequences of illegal immigration.
“This is not a video game. You’re not playing Call of Duty and killing Nazis,” she said.
“Illegal Immigration has an actual effect on this country, consequences, on crime, on housing, on our job market, on our economy and on our highway safety.”
She accused protesters of using the incident as a platform for personal validation rather than addressing public safety.
“It is not your stage on which to play hero, just because you’re a first world white woman with nothing better to do with your time who wants to feel so desperately like you’re a part of something,” Hughes said.
Hughes rejected claims that immigration officers are the villains in these situations.
“Immigration officers are not the bad guys,” she said. “The bad guys are the drug dealers and the human traffickers and the criminals who rape children and women and leave them dead beside hiking trails.”
She concluded by saying outrage should be directed at those crimes rather than at federal law enforcement.
“And if liberals had any sense whatsoever, that’s what they would be upset about,” Hughes said.
Hughes also addressed protests in Minneapolis that she said directly interfered with ICE enforcement operations, citing the arrest of a convicted sex offender.
“Speaking of ICE in Minnesota, while leftists were stomping through the streets of Minneapolis, and CNN was happy to give him a gold star for it,” Hughes said. “Here’s who ice was arresting.”
Hughes identified the suspect as Mahad Abul Kadir Youssef.
“This guy’s name is Mahad Abul Kadir Youssef,” she said.
“He’s a Somalian illegal alien sex offender who was living in Minneapolis.”
She detailed his criminal history, stating that he had previously been convicted of sexual assault.
“He was previously convicted of first degree criminal sexual assault for forcing a victim to perform oral sex on him multiple times back in 2016,” Hughes said.
“He’s also been arrested for first degree assault, and he’s got an active warrant from 2024 for obstructing police.”
According to Hughes, ICE had difficulty arresting Youssef due to interference from others.
“Now, ICE says they had previously tried to arrest him at his apartment, but the building manager blocked them from entry and protected the sex offender,” she said.
“So they had to launch a targeted operation in order to arrest him, which took more time and cost even more taxpayer money.”
Hughes criticized protesters for defending individuals she said pose a danger to the public.
“This is who leftists are putting their lives on the line to defend,” she said.
“When you go pick a fight with ICE in the street and keep them from doing their job, you’re keeping them from arresting a guy who forced a woman to perform oral sex on him multiple times and who has assaulted people in the country whose immigration laws he is knowingly violating.”
She closed by rejecting comparisons between ICE arrests and historical atrocities.
“You’re not protecting Anne Frank,” Hughes said.
“You’re protecting Mahad, the serial rapist. So congratulations on being the world’s most useful idiots.”
