Democratic Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker called for “mass protests” and “disruptions” against Republicans during a speech Sunday to his fellow Democrats.
Pritzker made the call for political mobilization at the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner, The Hill reported.
The governor claimed that he’s never called for such political mobilization before.
“These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace,” Pritzker said. “They have to understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone that we have.”
“Never before in my life have I called for mass protests, for mobilization, for disruption.
But I am now.”

He added that such mobilization would “punish” Republicans “at the ballot box.”
The Illinois politician also took on what he called “do-nothing Democrats” who blamed their electoral losses on the party’s position on blacks, trans children, and immigrants. He claimed that such Democrats lacked principle and a courage of conviction. While the party’s messaging and strategy may need some fixing, according to Pritzker, he commented that the party’s values are what they need to be. There has been speculation that Pritzker is a potential Democratic presidential candidate in 2028. Pritzker denied in an interview that he was thinking of running for president in 2028. He said that he was undecided on whether he would run for a third term for the governorship of Illinois.
“It’s truly fitting for the New Hampshire Democrats to bring Gov. Pritzker to the Granite State,” New Hampshire GOP Chair Jim MacEachern told the NH Journal at news of the governor’s speech in his state. “Both he and Chris Pappas want to place a tax on everything that moves. Both want to let violent criminals back on the streets, and both are pushing to appease the far left of their party.”
The McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner that the governor attended was first founded in 1959 to promote John F. Kennedy’s presidential candidacy. The event has since become a place for Democratic Party notables and speakers.
Pritzker tried to enact a progressive state income tax in Illinois. A referendum in 2020 on the matter resulted in Illinoisans rejecting the measure. The governor created an “Office of Equity to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) across state government” back in 2021. The governor also vowed in 2025 to fight against President Donald Trump’s crackdown on illegal immigration.
