The Trump administration plans to investigate the U.S. border crisis, focusing on the role of foreign countries, the Biden-Harris administration, and NGOs.
They aim to uncover the extent of international involvement and hold responsible parties accountable.
The emphasis is on transparency and truth-telling to the American people, suggesting a comprehensive review of the crisis’s origins and management.
“People are going to be held accountable. We’re going to be very transparent… What did United Nations have to do with this whole border crisis? Who in the administration, the Biden administration, opened the doors on this humanitarian crisis? What NGOs were involved in this? We’re going to be very transparent with the American people, and we’re going to tell them the truth. What happened on this border, again by design, and we’re going to let the American people know who was involved, why, and hold them accountable.” – Tom Homan

Homan also emphasized that the administration is already coordinating with Texas Governor Greg Abbott to implement measures aimed at securing the southern border.
Homan praised Abbott’s actions in reducing illegal migration in Texas and confirmed that planning is already underway to enhance border security ahead of Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
“Governor Abbott and I are not waiting until January 20th,” Homan said. “I’ve been out in Texas. We’re already meeting and planning how we can work together to help Texas secure their border at the highest level ever.”
He credited Abbott with making significant progress in Texas, noting, “Illegal migration in Texas is down 86% because he has implemented many of Trump’s policies. He’s building border barriers like President Trump did, adding consequences for those who cross the border illegally, and arresting them for trespassing.”
Homan further explained that these measures not only protect Texas but also have a broader impact. “Most of these illegal aliens aren’t staying in Texas; they are moving across the country. Every ounce of fentanyl intercepted means fewer overdose deaths. Every person arrested for trespassing is one less ‘gotaway.’ They are fingerprinted, vetted, and at least we know they’re not terrorists. We’re going to follow this model across the Southwest border.”
Homan detailed plans to enhance frontline enforcement by contracting out non-enforcement duties such as transportation and administrative work.
This approach is intended to free up officers for critical deportation operations.
“My plan, which I’ve been very vocal about, is to contract out as much work as we can—work that doesn’t require a badge and a gun—because I need badges and guns on the street for deportation operations,” Homan said.
He outlined specific tasks that could be handled by contractors, including transportation and processing duties. “Right now, we have officers doing that work. I want to get them out of those administrative roles and onto the streets,” he explained.
Homan also addressed the challenge of sanctuary states and cities that resist federal immigration enforcement.
He pledged to deploy additional resources to these areas if local governments continue to obstruct federal efforts.
“If these sanctuary states and cities keep pushing back, I’ll deploy extra resources and double manpower in those areas,” Homan said. “When we can’t arrest someone in jail with one agent, it means we have to send a whole team out into the field to find that person, which increases risk.”
Homan emphasized the importance of collaboration and swift action, highlighting his partnership with Abbott as a model for future initiatives. “Governor Abbott was the first to come to the table, and I accepted, shook his hand, and said, ‘Let’s go. Let’s move forward.’”
