Comer initially announced on June 4 that the committee would intensify its investigation into President Biden’s inner circle concerning his health by pursuing interviews with Dunn, Klain, Ricchetti, Donilon and Reed.
President Donald Trump’s White House cleared the way June 25 for Congress to question nine former Biden staffers about their private conversations with the former president by waiving executive privilege — unless Biden or the aides challenge the decision through the judiciary.
Just hours after the White House’s announcement, Comer announced that Bernal allegedly refused to voluntarily appear for his previously scheduled June 26 interview.
The next day, Comer announced that he would be subpoenaing Bernal for allegedly attempting to dodge testifying in the probe.
The chairman announced Friday that letters were sent to four more former senior Biden officials, including White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre and former Chief of Staff Jeff Zients.
