Israel Strikes Nuclear Site After Iran Hits Hospital With Missiles [WATCH]

Israel struck Iran’s Khondab nuclear site near the city of Arak on Thursday, hours after Iran launched dozens of ballistic missiles at multiple targets in Israel, including a direct hit on Soroka Medical Center in Beer Sheba.

The escalating conflict left at least 40 injured at the hospital and caused significant damage to the facility.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the overnight strike targeted Iran’s Khondab facility, including a partially built heavy water research reactor.

Israeli officials had shared a warning on social media before the strike, including satellite imagery of the site, urging civilians to evacuate the area.

“Dear citizens, for your safety and well-being, we urgently request that you immediately evacuate the designated area in Tehran’s Area 18. Your presence in this area puts your life at risk,” the IDF wrote in Farsi on X.

Iran’s state-run broadcaster confirmed that the facility was fully evacuated prior to the strike.

The strike came in response to an early morning barrage from Iran, in which dozens of missiles targeted multiple locations across Israel.

Among the strikes was a hit on Soroka Medical Center, the main hospital in southern Israel. A video from inside the hospital showed the extent of the damage. The hospital suspended intake of new patients except for life-threatening emergencies.

“Dozens of ballistic missiles were launched at Israel in the last barrage from Iran, with several hits to civilian population centres (including the Soroka hospital in southern Israel),” an Israeli military official told The New York Post.

“IDF Homefront Command Search and Rescue teams have been dispatched to several reported impact sites.”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu condemned the Iranian missile attack and vowed further retaliation.

“We will exact the full price from the tyrants in Tehran,” he said in a post on X.

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz echoed Netanyahu’s warning.

“These are war crimes of the most serious kind — and [Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali] Khamenei will be held accountable for his crimes,” Katz wrote.

“The Prime Minister and I have instructed the IDF to increase the intensity of attacks against strategic targets in Iran and against government targets in Tehran in order to remove threats to the State of Israel and undermine the ayatollahs’ regime.”

The Khondab site, which includes a heavy water reactor under construction, was confirmed hit by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).

The agency said it had no information indicating radioactive material was released and confirmed the reactor was not yet operational.

It also stated there was no indication that the separate heavy water production plant at the site had been affected.

Heavy water reactors can produce plutonium, which, like enriched uranium, can be used in the production of nuclear weapons.

The IAEA had inspected the facility on May 14, just weeks ahead of a planned vote to determine Iran’s compliance with nuclear nonproliferation obligations.

Israel has launched a series of airstrikes against Iranian nuclear infrastructure and military leadership over the past week.

Strikes have included sites in Isfahan and Natanz, locations associated with uranium enrichment activities.

In addition to damaging key nuclear facilities, Israeli operations have reportedly eliminated several top Iranian generals and nuclear scientists.

According to a Washington-based Iranian human rights group, at least 639 people, including 263 civilians, have been killed in Iran since the beginning of Israel’s offensive.

In Israel, 24 people have died, and hundreds have been wounded in Iranian missile attacks, according to the Associated Press.

As the conflict intensifies, President Donald Trump said the United States is weighing its response.

Speaking before a Situation Room meeting on Wednesday, Trump said, “I have ideas as to what to do, but I haven’t made a final — I like to make the final decision one second before it’s due, because things change, especially with war. Things change with war. It can go from one extreme to the other.”

Israel has requested the U.S. provide a bunker-busting bomb to destroy Iran’s underground nuclear facility in Fordow.
