It’s a PR Strategy

We tend to think of riots as physical manifestations of spontaneous outbursts of rage, and for many rioters, they are.

But, more often than not, riots are staged for a purpose: to create a narrative of an overbearing state using harsh tactics to suppress victims of oppression. Many of the people who participate in riots are indeed swept up into the ecstatic emotion, becoming part of a crowd with a license to release their Id, but the people who spark and lead the riot know exactly what they are doing, having planned and prepared for them.

There are books and trainings run by nonprofits, vast sums of money, and professional protesters who travel the country organizing cells with the goal of stoking unrest and violence.

A lot of the coordination between these groups is done through nonprofits that get government grants. Many leftist politicians funnel money into these groups and even hold campaign rallies with them.

The riots in Los Angeles are nominally about “migrant rights,” but if you look closely at some of the rioters, you will see Keffiyehs, Hamas armbands, and Antifa markings. Most of the rioters are, as with Antifa, white people.

My wife watched a number of the videos with me, and that stuck out to her like a sore thumb. There were plenty of “brown” people, of course–this is LA–but the core group of rioters are white professional protesters who are there to start up trouble.

The final move is “lead with sympathetic characters.”

They put sympathetic people out front to garner sympathy and make them look like sympathetic underdogs fighting an uphill battle.

So, you may ask, why do they do this? Obviously, the destruction is unappealing to most people, so how is rioting a good public relations strategy? Who wants to see their city burn? Who identifies with the rioters?

The answer can be seen in how the Pravda Media and the left-wing politicians are playing it, rather than the rioters themselves. The riots provide the backdrop that is used to push the leftist propaganda.

Every Democrat and media figure on the left is rushing out to define the riots as an understandable reaction to the fascist Donald Trump. Everything was hunky dorey until Trump tried to destroy a “serene neighborhood,” and the protests against this fascist takeover of Los Angeles were perfectly peaceful until Trump sent in the National Guard. 

The Los Angeles Times wants you to believe that ICE initiated the aggression in the “serene SoCal neighborhood”.

The fact that the National Guard’s presence has been limited to protecting federal buildings and that they have yet to move out to quell the riots is irrelevant. The photos are there, and Maxine Waters can preach peace, love, and understanding to the troops she is using as props, which is the point.

The left has created a unified front, and the whole point is to have media figures and politicians chant the same talking points.

California Democrat Rep. Nanette Barragán calls the Los Angeles riots “Peaceful Protests” on CNN while the network displays a literal car on fire.

If the protests are “peaceful” and merely an expression of support for poor, oppressed migrants, any response from the authorities is obviously a suppression of First Amendment rights and an “overreaction” from a fascist government.

For those of us getting our news from social media–we are watching the raw footage showing the preparation of Molotov cocktails, the stockpiling of concrete blocks, the preparation of shields, and the instigation of violence by the protesters it looks like what it is: planned violence.

But for the majority of people who get their news from Pravda and who trust the politicians they voted for, this looks very much like the Trump administration cracking down on people who just want to live their lives.

They teargassed a baby! 

The riot isn’t the PR operation–it’s the backdrop that the propagandists use to spread a message. That is why, in 2020, you saw the politicians kneeling to the protesters, the comparison to the “Summer of Love,” and the constant spreading of the narrative that young black men were being hunted.

The goal is to delegitimize the government. Issues like Gaza and ICE are excuses to attack the United States, and in particular, the Republican Party. 

Only certain people respond positively to this propaganda–some of us are repelled. But the goal is to gin up anger in those people to mobilize them for the upcoming elections.

We all knew that along with Donald Trump’s victory would come violence. It is a core tactic of the left. So expect another “Summer of Love.”
