It’s Wrong to Assume Democratic Party Voters Are Evil

One of the frustrations all of us have is that Democratic voters are incurious about why we believe what we believe and why we vote as we do.

They come up with explanations that amount to: we are Naziwhitesupremacisthomophobiccolonialist genocidaires. They watch the pundits on TV, listen to people like President Biden, and read the editorials in Pravda and are convinced that we are on a hair trigger and will soon stalk the land with our scary AR-15s hunting down trans people, brown people, and eventually AWFLs.

The idea is of course absurd, but a lot of liberals have voted for politicians they, at some level, know are insanely liberals because they believe the alternative is a future they fear would be dystopian.

Now, reverse things for a moment. For decades, we understood that liberals see us as evil, and we saw liberals as stupid. But as their politicians have become more and more insane or even evil—what else can you call abortion until birth and sterilizing and mutilating children except demonic?—many of us have concluded that anybody who can be complicit in that evil must be evil themselves.

I see it in the comments. I understand it in my bones. When I hear a liberal talking about trans issues while ignoring the fact that boys are having their penises cut off and girls are having their breasts and wombs removed, it is enraging. Vague handwaving in the face of Mengele-like human experimentation isn’t just baffling, but enraging.

HOW CAN YOU THINK THAT WAY? I want to scream and rage, and occasionally have.

But I have done my screaming and raging at people whom I genuinely like, or even love. I know they are good people, even sometimes especially good people, which leads me to my point: as tempting as it is to believe the easy explanation that our political opponents are evil, the fact is that the vast majority of them are not.

That’s not to say that some are not. That many are not. When I see “thought leaders” make arguments that I KNOW for a fact that they know are not true, I conclude they are evil. Many, but not all, of these thought leaders are very cynically manipulating their followers to accept their own and others’ enslavement.

But I know a lot of “bleeding heart” liberals who really do believe that they are helping build a better world.

Which is why I often say that our true enemies are in Pravda and the transnational elite. The average liberal, when they read Scientific American, watches the pundits every Sunday, and peruses The Atlantic, actually believes that they are listening to the best and the brightest who have acquired wisdom, and whose authority is derived from their deep knowledge and collective wisdom.

When they are informed that Red America is filled with gap-toothed Neanderthals ready to commit massacres on innocents, they believe what they are told. They believe the distorted stories about ICE invading churches and gassing infants, and God forbid they take Tim Walz and his ilk seriously when they compare ICE to the Gestapo.

Their vision of the average Democratic Party politician is JFK or Hubert Humphrey, who merely want a larger welfare state that takes care of those on the margins of society. They scoff when we point out that Zohran Mamdani campaigned with one of the unindicted co-conspirators of the 9/11 terrorist attacks, or that his housing cabinet member wants to eliminate home ownership.

When Zohran Mamdani says he wants to seize the means of production and eliminate private property, they believe Snopes when they say he is no communist.

They believe the public schools are underfunded and that teachers are sane; they believe the United Nations when it warns that the world is about to end; they believe that DEI is “kindness.” They believe it.

At base, they believe that the elite are good, sane, and honest. They cannot conceive of a bureaucracy that created the Russia Collusion hoax. It is too horrific to believe, because they trust them.

In the end, what liberals believe is that the world is perfectible with enough money and effort, and their politicians promise to perfect it. They actually believe that Gavin Newsom wants to solve homelessness, that Tim Walz wanted to feed children and provide daycare, and were shocked, SHOCKED, to discover that Biden’s brain was pudding. They were told by their trusted elite that he was fit as a fiddle.

It must have been a mistake, because the alternative—a massive conspiracy to deceive the American public—would never be done by their trusted elite.

Your average liberal doesn’t want communism or children sacrificed to the alphabet gods. They want peace and prosperity and a “kinder, gentler” world. They don’t understand that human beings are fallen—most are post-Christian—and believe the myth that the world is perfectible.

But the world IS fallen, which means that some level of pain and harshness are inevitable parts of human life.

A significant chunk of our elite are political Bernie Madoffs. They promise the impossible, and as with Madoff, the victims believe them. Many of Madoff’s victims believed for months and years that his arrest was a mistake. He had been so GOOD to them! How could he have been a fraud?!

Con men prey on people’s trust and appeal to their deepest desires. People suspend disbelief because the rewards seem so high.

Of course, in a practical, political sense, the fact that liberals are, in fact, decent people doesn’t matter. We must still defeat them and crush their ideology.

But we should also remember not to hate the average Democratic voters.
