Former Metropolitan Police Department officer Michael Fanone delivered a scathing critique of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement and U.S. Customs and Border Protection, accusing the agencies of repeated abuses of power and calling on elected officials and law enforcement leaders to take immediate action to protect the public.
Fanone, who has been a vocal public figure since January 6, said recent incidents involving federal immigration authorities reflect a longstanding pattern of misconduct that has resulted in serious injuries and deaths.
He said accountability has been absent and blamed political leaders and law enforcement agencies at every level for failing to intervene.
“This ain’t the first time that we’ve seen ICE and CBP abuse their power,” Fanone said.
“It’s probably the millionth f**king time that we’ve seen this happen, and it’s not even the first time that someone has been seriously injured or lost their lives.”
Fanone said the lack of consequences for those actions has emboldened federal agencies and left communities vulnerable.
He directed his criticism at politicians and local, state, and municipal law enforcement leaders, saying they have failed to confront the problem.

“And so these politicians and these local, state and municipal law enforcement agencies need to wake the f**k up,” he said.
Fanone said he agreed with the forceful language recently used by the mayor of Minneapolis in response to an incident involving federal agents, arguing that strong rhetoric reflects the seriousness of the situation. However, he said words alone are meaningless without concrete action.
“You know, I appreciate the foul language coming out of the mouth of you know, the mayor of Minneapolis, and I think that his sentiment in the moment was appropriate,” Fanone said.
“That being said, what are you doing?”
Fanone questioned what specific steps leaders are taking to safeguard the public and demanded clear direction and accountability from law enforcement agencies.
“What are you directing your law enforcement agencies to do to protect your citizens?” he said.
“How are you going about doing that?”
He dismissed calls from police leadership for calm and peaceful protests, saying such statements fail to address what he described as immediate and ongoing threats to public safety.
“I don’t need to hear from the chief of police that we all need to remain calm and protest peacefully,” Fanone said.
“F**k you and f**k that.”
Fanone said citizens deserve to know how officials plan to keep them safe, not reassurances that avoid confronting the issue.
“What are you doing to keep me safe? What are you doing to keep my mother safe, my sister safe?” he said.
“You know, my community safe from these thugs.”
He said those are the questions that should be answered by law enforcement leaders and elected officials, rather than appeals for calm.
“That’s what I need to hear coming out of these agents or these officers,” Fanone said.
Fanone warned that continued inaction could lead Americans to take matters into their own hands.
He suggested that if authorities fail to protect the public, citizens may feel compelled to rely on their constitutional rights for self-defense.
“Because if you’re not going to do it, then it’s time for the American people to organize and to utilize their Second Amendment right to protect themselves,” he said.
Fanone concluded by characterizing ICE and CBP as agencies that have become unaccountable and dangerous, arguing that decisive action is needed to prevent further loss of life.
“From what is clearly become an unaccountable and lawless agency that’s killing Americans,” he said.
