James Comey’s Daughter Fired From Justice Department

In the Soviet Union, there was a class of people in that famously classless society who ran everything. 

They were called the Nomenklatura. They got the best of everything, got to boss everybody around, and the only group who could be certain that their kids wouldn’t live in the grinding poverty that socialist societies inevitably produce. 

America has produced its own Nomenklatura. They are technocrats and politicians who have risen through the system and planted themselves into the workings of government. They aren’t often the wealthiest in our society, but they have accumulated all the power and gained sinecures that set them up for life. 

Have you ever wondered why, of all people, it’s the government workers who feel the most betrayed when they lose their jobs? For them it is the breaking of a sacred social contract in which they were promised permanent jobs, amazing benefits, and a route out of government employment in the prime of their lives. And if they rose high enough, they could make a lateral move into high-paying jobs in the consulting sector. 

James Comey and his family were members of the American Nomenklatura. Joe Biden was as well. Government was their business.

We all know that the Biden family business was selling government power. The Comeys had a different business model–not being politicians, they chose a path of acquiring power within the bureaucracy to rise up within the shadow government–what we know of as the Deep State. 

The opposition to Trump–the #resistance–is led by this Nomenklatura, and with good reason. Trump’s mandate is to break up the Deep State, and bureaucrat by bureaucrat, he is doing so.

Yesterday, Pam Bondi fired Maurene Comey, the scion of James. Just as Comey rose to the top of the FBI and abused his power in an attempt to destroy Donald Trump, Maureen was a rising star in the Justice Department, mismanaging prominent prosecutions such as the Epstein and “Diddy” cases. 

The Justice Department has fired Maurene Comey, the daughter of former FBI director James Comey and a federal prosecutor in Manhattan who worked on the cases against Sean “Diddy” Combs and Jeffrey Epstein, three people familiar with the matter told The Associated Press on Wednesday.

There was no specific reason given for her firing, according to one of the people. They spoke to the AP on the condition of anonymity to discuss personnel matters.

Maurene Comey was a veteran lawyer in the Southern District of New York, long considered the most elite of the Justice Department’s prosecution offices. Her cases included the sex trafficking prosecution of Epstein, who killed himself behind bars in 2019 as he was awaiting trial, and the recent case against Combs, which ended earlier this month with a mixed verdict.

She didn’t immediately respond to messages seeking comment Wednesday.

It’s the latest move by the Justice Department to fire lawyers without explanation, which has raised alarm over a disregard for civil service protections designed to prevent terminations for political reasons. The Justice Department has also fired a number of prosecutors who worked on cases that have provoked President Donald Trump’s ire, including some who handled U.S. Capitol riot cases and lawyers and support staff who worked on special counsel Jack Smith’s prosecutions of Trump.

Democrats are, of course, livid.

There is no reason that I know of to think that Comey “threw” these cases. On the other hand, you don’t wind up at the Southern District of New York’s US Attorney’s Office without being highly politically connected. It is the plum assignment for US Attorneys because New York is a center of money and power. 

Democrats are pretending that she was a superstar, but superstars don’t lose cases like the Sean Combs trial, and they don’t prosecute Jeffry Epstein and not net a few big fish. It’s hard not to suspect that one of the reasons why there is so little evidence left in the Epstein case has something to do with Comey. 

Maybe, maybe not. 

But what I do know is that Comey had her position because she was part of the Nomenklatura, and if she really is THAT good as the Democrats say, she should have no problem getting a job in the private sector that pays better than the one she has. The US Attorney position is so prized because it is one path to wealth and power within the legal profession. 

Am I gleeful that Comey’s daughter is currently unemployed? Not really. I have no real evidence that she committed any malfeasance, and I don’t think the sins of the father are proof that a daughter is corrupt. 

However, the Hunter Biden scandal reveals how the powerful can exploit the system to elevate their children to levels of power and prestige that are unwarranted by their skills. So it’s hard to feel bad for her too.
