Actor James Woods sharply criticized Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) and other Democrats following disruptions during President Donald Trump’s first State of the Union address on Tuesday night, as post-speech polling showed strong support among CNN viewers for the President’s remarks.
During the address, President Trump recognized the parents of 23-year-old Ukraine refugee Iryna Zarutska, who was killed in North Carolina last year.
“Last summer, 23-year-old Iryna was riding home on the train when a deranged monster — who has been arrested over a dozen times and was released through no-cash bail — stood up and viciously slashed a knife through her neck and body,” Trump said.

The President’s remarks prompted a standing ovation from much of the chamber, while several Democratic members remained seated.
“How do you not stand?” Trump asked Democrats in the room. “How do you not stand?”
Rep. Ilhan Omar and Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) were among Democrats who protested during portions of the speech. According to reports, both women shouted objections while the President was delivering his address.
James Woods responded on X with a series of posts criticizing the lawmakers.

The speech marked President Trump’s first State of the Union address of his current term. Throughout the address, he outlined policy priorities and highlighted individual stories, including the Zarutska case, which he cited in discussing crime and public safety.
Despite protests and visible partisan divisions in the chamber, early reaction from viewers was favorable, according to a CNN Instant Poll conducted after the address.
