Illinois Governor JB Pritzker called for “mass protests” and “disruptions” directed at Republicans during remarks at the New Hampshire Democratic Party’s McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner on Sunday, according to a report from The Hill.

Speaking before fellow Democrats, Pritzker urged the party to mobilize aggressively against Republican opponents, stating, “These Republicans cannot know a moment of peace. They have to understand that we will fight their cruelty with every megaphone and microphone that we have.”

Pritzker added that political mobilization should “punish” Republicans “at the ballot box.”

His comments come amid ongoing speculation about his political future, including discussions about a potential presidential run in 2028, though Pritzker has denied having plans to seek the White House at this time.

He has also stated that he remains undecided about whether he will seek a third term as Illinois governor.

During his remarks, Pritzker also criticized members of his own party, referring to some as “do-nothing Democrats” who, according to him, blame electoral losses on the party’s stances regarding Black voters, transgender children, and immigrants.

Pritzker argued that such Democrats lacked “principle and courage of conviction.”

He acknowledged that the party’s messaging and strategy could benefit from adjustments but insisted that its core values should remain intact.

New Hampshire Republican Party Chair Jim MacEachern responded to Pritzker’s appearance in the state by criticizing the governor’s policies.

“It’s truly fitting for the New Hampshire Democrats to bring Gov. Pritzker to the Granite State,” MacEachern said in a statement to the NH Journal.

“Both he and Chris Pappas want to place a tax on everything that moves. Both want to let violent criminals back on the streets, and both are pushing to appease the far left of their party.”

The McIntyre-Shaheen 100 Club Dinner, where Pritzker delivered his remarks, has historical significance within the Democratic Party.

First founded in 1959 to support John F. Kennedy’s presidential campaign, the event has since served as a platform for notable Democratic figures to address party members and activists.

Pritzker’s tenure as governor has included several controversial initiatives. In 2020, he attempted to enact a progressive state income tax in Illinois through a statewide referendum.

The proposal was ultimately rejected by voters. In 2021, Pritzker established an “Office of Equity” designed to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) efforts across Illinois state government.

In 2025, Pritzker also vowed to oppose President Donald Trump’s efforts to crack down on illegal immigration, positioning himself in sharp contrast to federal immigration enforcement policies.

As national attention continues to focus on Democratic strategies ahead of the next election cycles, Pritzker’s calls for heightened protest activity and intra-party accountability are likely to draw both support and criticism from different factions within the party.
